Why does Steve Stone have to say "our Sox" instead of "the Sox" every time? Is this some kind of strange loyalty test like they have in tinhorn dictatorships?

We get it, Hawk and Steve, you want the Sox to win. But you sound like idiots when you stoop to this level.

That didn't last long. eyesre4.gif Brewers 8 Jays 3 banghead.gif 35-34 wacko.gif

Brewers can slug with most teams, but I'm really glad that the Jays are GONE from Milwaukee! Every freeking inning is an adventure pitching to 'em.... ohmy.gif laugh.gif

The Sox have (finally) climbed out of the AL East cellar. And still, I cannot get excited about this team.

Hey, at least they're not the Cubs.

The Cubs are bad now, but I don't get the sense that they're not likeable. And with Sveum there's at least the suggestion that they're building towards the future. Bobby V.? Why not just see if Butch Hobson will come back? sad.gif

Well, they're likable in a way most Red Sox teams are not. They could bring back Duquette or Morgan or even go back to the time when that guy (was his name Sullivan?) brought in his son or nephew to catch for the team when he couldn't hit .150. Was that Marc Sullivan?

I just wish the Cubs would be a little less likable when other teams see their name on the upcoming schedule. I do think that things can only get better (to channel Howard Jones).

In Theo we trust!

I think it was Marc Sullivan, Haywood's relative. Late 70s, early 80s I think.

I like Theo, and I think he did a great job building the farm system. He made some really bad free agent signings, maybe some of the worst ever. He said recently that was an organizational thing, not him. For the Cubs sake, I hope that's right.

Worse free agent signings than Soriano?    Is that even possible?

*Exhales*

Matt Clement

J.D. Drew

John Lackey

Daisuke Matsuzaka

Carl Crawford (so far)

Julio Lugo

Edgar Renteria

Bobby Jenks

All big money guys. All horribly underperformed in light of that big money. Drew, Lackey, Crawford (perhaps), and Matsuzaka were all worse.
