Presto-digitation Posted February 1, 2012 Share Posted February 1, 2012 I find his voice to be much better than it was in '96 on the hits album, quite honestly. I'll admit he has his strain on some of the higher stuff (the chorus to You And Your Blues, for instance, is a good example), but MOST of the time he's singing in a comfortable range and making good choices. When he's doing that he sounds remarkably like he always has. He actually sings a lot closer to his usual self than a lot of singers, including Geddy Lee, whose stylings have changed (also due to inability over the years) dramatically! I get that DLR (also like Ged) is an acquired taste. You either like him or you don't at this point. If Fair Warning didn't make someone a fan of his, this album isn't going to do it. But that goes without saying. Still, those who think his voice is just unlistenable and yet claim to have always liked Roth are full of bologna in my mind. I for one, am happy to be proven wrong - I never thought Eddie would be able to pull his act together and make a new record with Dave, let alone a killer of an album like this one is promising to be.
