Akron162
You know, when i try to list all the great prog rock singers, three names came to my mind: Jon Anderson, Annie Haslam, Peter Gabriel... and then i stop. Seriously, if there is something that prog rock lacks (besides the sense of when to stop a song) is good singers. So ive been thinking about it lately, is there any good prog singer besides the ones i listed before? Edited November 27, 2011 by Akron162

Oracle
Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Steven Wilson (if you like that whiny vocal), Rikard Sjoblom, and Jon Anderson immediately come to mind.

Ancient Ways
QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Nov 26 2011, 08:29 PM) Steven Wilson I am a fan of his work but I don't think he is a great singer. His style does serve the music though.
Akron162
QUOTE (Union 5-3992 @ Nov 26 2011, 07:05 PM) Geddy Lee I love Geddy, and i think his voice suits perfectly the Rush music, but i wouldnt call him a great vocalist in general
fledgehog
Steven Wilson is a very personal singer. I happen to like his style too. But from a technical standpoint he is horrible. Although i don't quite see how you can describe him as whiny?

Well, Phil Collins is tolerable, but i wouldnt list him because his main work is anything but prog. And Rikard Sjoblom from Beardfish, thanks for remind me, he is pretty good too. Tommy Sawyer
It's pretty easy actually. Geddy Jon Anderson David Gilmour (overriding my previous opinion of him) Roger Waters Greg Lake Ian McDonald (On In the Court...) Ian Anderson Peter Gabiel [The singer for Van der Graaf Generator - can't remember his name] and I could go on to include Dennis DeYoung Tommy Shaw James Young and more if we're talking pseudo prog. The K Man
Steve Walsh and Greg Lake are two of the best singers that come from a genre under the banner of rock.
2112mjh
Have to agree re John Wetton. Would also add Steve Hogarth....who would have made a great replacement in Genesis for Peter Gabriel !
