Well for starters The Big Country is one you want to see it's a classic western drama. It also features Gregory Peck, Burl Ives and Chuck Connors (making it the forerunner of Soylent Green). Burl Ives is superb as a roughneck rancher and Chuck Connors excels as his sneaky bastard son. Peck and Heston engage is a legendary fist fight that lasts for quite a while. The music is great too. I'll see if I can find a trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZTtyQ6TtB0

Will Penny is really good as well, with Donald Pleasence as the crazy-eyed preacher bad guy and his wild sons including Bruce Dern. It's also the feature debut of Lee Majors plus Anthony Zerbe (making it the forerunner of The Omega Man).

Arrowhead features Jack Palance as an Apache who believes he's the chosen one to lead his people against the whites, Heston is obsessed with bringing him down. Brian Keith also stars.

The Last Hard Men is excellent and features James Coburn in his toughest and most ruthless role as an escaped convict bent on revenge. The way he slaps Barbara Hershey around is shocking. She plays Chuck's daughter and Chuck is the guy that Coburn is looking for payback from. The gang of convicts Coburn runs with is a great group of character actors too.

Major Dundee is a Sam Peckinpah epic western action flick, also featuring Richard Harris, James Coburn again, and Warren Oates.

Another one you probably haven't seen is The War Lord which is like a smaller scale El Cid also featuring Richard Boone, Maurice Evans (so a forerunner to Planet of the Apes), a young James Farentino and a brilliant performance from Dean Stockwell's brother Guy, which I think really helps make the film a classic.

Thanks for the breakdown. Of those I think Arrowhead and The Last Hard Men (could be a porn title) are up my alley. And yeah I haven't seen The Warlord

You can't go wrong with any of them.

Here's a couple more trailers:

Holy crap, I saw those as Sunday night movies on whatever major network showed them in the late 70s. I must've been 6 or 7. Those flicks couldn't have held up, could they? Then again, they were bad even back then...but an enjoyable sort of bad.

Yeah they're not that great watching them now. Airport 75 is a really weak mid-air disaster flick that is almost like a parody with a singing nun, Linda Blair as a kidney patient, Sid Caesar as a guy who never shuts up, a drunk woman. The woman who played Nova is in it though that's a boost.

Earthquake is almost as bad, it's like a disaster version of a daytime soap opera. The earthquake effects are a total joke. not convincing at all. You get no sense of it really being an earthquake. It looks like bunch of people running around on a disaster set with models standing in for the big disasters.

One disaster flick that does stand up though, and is maybe even better now, is Two Minute Warning, that one is excellent. It has a little of the disaster flick style cast of characters but the main story really delivers and Chuck is on form as the grizzled police chief. Also John Cassavetes is cool as the SWAT guy as is Martin Balsam as the stadium manager, plus you get Jack "Quincy" Klugman as a gambler who owes $30,000 to the local Mr Big. David "The Fugitive" Janssen as a sleazy car salesman who hates his girlfriend and Beau Bridges as a know it all young dude who spots the sniper. It's like a disaster flick version of Dirty Harry only swap Harry Callahan for No Nonsense Chuck.Heston.

I remember when Earthquake was in the theaters it had the effect of Sensurround which was produced by low frequency sound out of huge subwooofer speakers to give the spectator a rumbling sensation during the earthquake scenes. It was also used in a few other movies as well such as Midway, another Chuck the f**k (as the ladies called him off screen) and Battlestar Galactica.

I was going through all of the DVD's,

Most I do not own. Came across this one. "The Fifth Element". Is the movie any good?

A lot of people will tell you it's good but to me feels like a bit of a cliche. Some of it seems taken from the "Harry Canyon" story in Heavy Metal if you can remember that one...tough, street smart guy driving a flying taxi. Milla Jovavich is wearing very little in this so that's a plus at least.

I just watched "Major Payne",

It was terrible. I will pass on "The Fifth Element".

Oh man, I didn't see it but I remember the ads for it. No way Damon Wayans can be funny for 90 minutes. Put him in a 5 minute sketch and it's possible. All you need from any the Wayans brothers is I'm Gonna Git You Sucka and a handful of In Living Colour episodes. Everything else can be binned.

Girl from the Thriller video is briefly in this. She gets murdered in the shower. Nice gratuitous nude scene. :blaze:

Same for John Travolta's beard Kelly Preston.

Damn! I don't remember her in there. You'd think I'd remember a nude Kelly Preston. Even though about 30 years ago since I've seen it, I remember a peculiar/funny line when Bronson is interrogating the murderer at police headquarters. He has some evidence that was confiscated from the murderer's house, looks at one item and busts, "What's this for?! Huh?! It's for jacking off!!!"
