Slaine mac Roth
I was born, and have lived most of my life, in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Misc/mansfield.jpg Mansfield is a former mining town (the last pit closed about 15 years ago and the miners still haven't stopped whinging about it) which is located in what was once the centre of Sherwood Forest. A few years ago, the local council planted a tree on the spot that marks the centre of the forest. The centre of the town is dominated by a Victorian viaduct which carries the Robin Hood Line between Nottingham and Worksop http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/Jimyyz2112/Misc/viaduct.jpg Until the opening of this line, Mansfield was the largest town in the UK without a railway station. Spike
I grew up in a what was a nice, quiet, little farm town. "Cow-tipping" was the favorite teenage prank. Now, it's home to one of the world's largest casinos: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v636/mamidmmk/aaa45f98.jpg And, on the other side of town, just across the river, is another huge casino - a towering skyscraper of glass, jutting out of the picturesque New England country side!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v636/mamidmmk/home_fac2.jpg

Arndrake
Roseburg, Oregon A small town of only about 20,000 people. On the I-5 corridor in between Eugene-Springfield and Medford. It's primary industry is lumber. http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/Rsb-DownTown-River.jpg The South Umpqua River and looking towards downtown http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/mainStreet.jpg Jackson St, downtown. Kind of boring, eh? http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/grafitti.jpg Grafitti Night. Beautiful old cars cruise the downtown drag. http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/craterLk2.jpg Crater Lake, 100 miles east http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/356.jpg Elk viewing station http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/103.jpg Toketee Falls, on the North Umpqua River, 40 miles east http://www.leifstudios.com/extras/free/downtwn.jpg Downtown and the South Umpqua at night. I think this was taken from on top of Mt Nebo Probably overposted but it's hard to describe the town in one picture, it's kind of a typical town and there's more to the area than just a few sleepy towns.
