  2. Good morning. Did anything happen in the past few months?
  3. I just saw this -- Eisenstein's first sound movie (ie. not silent) Russian with English subtitles. It's about a 13th century warrior prince (historical) defending Russia from the Teutonic Knights. It may be thinly veiled Communist propaganda, but the cinematography is superb -- I daresay it's as breathtaking as the LOTR series. A masterpiece! Now, has anyone seen this?
  4. Marillion - Seasons End It's growing on me.
  5. QUOTE (Phoenix @ Dec 28 2005, 05:14 PM) The next shows I plan to see are Simple Minds, Fish & Midge Ure you rock.
  6. Awesome, Moon -- you're in for hours of fun with the Zappa, Gabriel and especially Franz Liszt records. D -- holy shit! For my part, I bought -- ah, boxing day! : - The Mars Volta - Scabdates - Porcupine Tree - Voyage 34 - Porcupine Tree - Stars Die: The Delerium Years - Peter Gabriel - Growing UP Live (DVD) The Peter Gabriel DVD kicks MAJOR ass. And so does the Mars Volta album. I'm a bit disappointed with Voyage 34, though, and I already had half the songs on Stars Die. I'm hoping to go to Montreal soon to waste all the remainder of my now-meagre pile of Christmas money at Freeson Rock (THE BEST MUSIC SHOP EVAR!! -- they specialize in prog-rock and metal) My brother bought SOAD's Toxicity and Mezmerize. (about time)
  7. QUOTE (Necromancer @ Nov 19 2005, 06:23 PM) Okay... picture this. Let's pretend the EPIC movie STAR WARS is a remake and that the original is exactly the same except it's set in FEUDAL JAPAN. The Deathstar is a Huge Castel that is inhabited by an evil magical warlord who's main operative is a samurai in black. His helmet is a precursor to the one worn by Darth Vader. Let's pretend that the samurai soldiers are all in white garb just like the Stormtroopers and that their evil is about to be overturned by a rag tag group of heroes led by a savvy outlaw just like Han Solo. His compatriots are a princess of the land who has a political agenda and a young man who is looking for his lost samurai father. In a weird twist, the young farm boy has romantic attractions to the young princess and later finds to his horror that not only is she his sister, but the evil samurai in black is BOTH their father. EEEEEWWWWW. Of course it would have to be cast fully Japanese and we could... What??? Excuse me??? This HAS already been done before??? GEORGE LUCAS did WHAT??? RIPPED OFF AN OLD MOVIE BY JUST CHANGING IT'S LOCALE? You have GOT to be shitting me. That's just NOT possible. No way. Won't believe it. I had heard about this before, but I don't know which movie is the, um, original -- could you clarify?
