I picked up a bottle of Stone 11th Anniversary Ale last weekend. Haven't opened it yet. They classify it as a "black IPA." Yum. Anyone try it yet?

http://www.stonebrew.com/11th/ale/

ohmy.gif

Oh man, does that sound good!

Had it last night. Good stuff! It's like a stout-like IPA. Not thick like a stout but almost as dark, with that caramel and coffee malt you'd find in a stout joined with the sharp hop bite of an IPA. trink38.gif

God that sounds good - Ill have to get me some!

Just be warned: It's not a beer where you'll be saying, "I had some 11th Anniversary beer...and more beer, and more beer," because if you drink this stuff like you drink Yuengling, you'll be using your health insurance. wink.gif

Are you accusing me of being some sort of rookie philistine? laugh.gif

The SN Stout is a very nice brew. trink38.gif

And their porter is one of the best porters I've ever tried. If you haven't tried their porter yet, do yourself a favor and grab some.

I'm a fan of Smuttynose beers. I have a fresh six of their Shoals Pale Ale here, and their IPA is very good.

And I agree about SN's porter. Good stuff. trink38.gif

I'm very excited about the newest additions to the Snowdog stock:

3-Pliny the Elder (Bottled 05-13-09)

3-Stone Sublimely Self Righteous Ale

3-Stone Cali-Belgique IPA

3 (more) 2009 Stone IRS

Been wanting to try the Pliny for a long time. Now, I'll get the chance. Stick it in the fridge and give it a try later on tonight. We'll see if Pliny lives up to the hype.

The only Great Divide brew I've tried is the St. Bridgets Porter. And I wasn't impressed. But the Yeti line is supposedly outstanding. I'll be giving the Oak Aged Yeti a go later tonight. I've also heard the Titan IPA is top shelf, but that is one of the GD brews I can't find here.

I've tried the Titan IPA. It's good enough that I can tell you to try it, but it didn't make my top 5.

After a trip to the beer store today, my fridge is looking sweet, yo...

2-Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout

1-Sierra Nevada Harvest Wet Hop Ale

6-Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA (never tried)

1-Great Divide Yeti IRS (never tried)

1-Stone IRS

2-Stone Oaked Arrogant Bastard

2-Newcastle Brown Ale

3-Smuttynose Shoals PA

1-Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter (never tried)

1-Flying Dog Horn Dog Barleywine Ale

3-Heavy Seas Loose Cannon Hop Ale

1-Route 113 IPA

1-Young's Chocolate Stout

In the basement:

1-Stone Arrogant Bastard

1-Sam Adams Double Chocolate Bock

For the record, I don't have six packs of ALL those beers. Most are 1-3 bottles left over from previous sixes, or were bought as singles. I don't keep more than two bottles of any one beer in my fridge. The rest, if there's more, sit on the cellar stairs. My fridge isn't literally full of beer. wink.gif

Just one shelf. biggrin.gif
