drbirdsong Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 QUOTE (Tony R @ Oct 7 2011, 07:14 PM) QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Oct 7 2011, 08:32 PM) This is my third mention of the new LEVIN TORN WHITE CD today, but I can't recommend it enough. It's all instrumental and all prog all the time. Killer. I have it. I can't believe how well Alan White plays in this album. And I still think the name sounds like a posh brand of toilet paper. Agreed. It is the best Alan White drumming I've heard since the 1970s.
Gompers Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Listening to the new Airbag release on Progstreaming. Sounds like a winner.
Hatchetaxe&saw Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Touchstone's new album The City Sleeps, entered the UK Rock charts at number 36 today!!!!! That's crazy. Good crazy. Saw them at The Robin in Bilston on Sunday evening, where they supported by Heather Findlay. Cracking show.
ColdFireYYZ Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 The Mercury Tree is a great post rock/prog band. Their debut album "Pterodactyls" is really good. Its available to stream/download on Bandcamp. They have a bunch of EP's but I haven't listened to them yet. http://themercurytree.bandcamp.com/ http://f0.bcbits.com/z/30/35/3035010842-1.jpg

I just listened to the album and I like it. Thanks for that link. Right now I'm listening to Cloudkicker's album Beacons and I'm impressed so far. He plays instrumental prog metal so anyone who likes that sort of thing should check this out. Available to stream/download on Bandcamp. http://cloudkicker.bandcamp.com/
Hatchetaxe&saw Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Ben Craven - Great & Terrible Potions Roger Dean cover an' all. Looks like Union! But, thankfully, doesn't sound like it. He obviously loves Yes, Floyd & PT. Worth a spin.
ColdFireYYZ Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Even though they broke up a couple of years ago, Charts and Maps released their debut album Dead Horse for free. Their music is a mix of jazz, math rock, and prog and features a saxophone player. http://chartsandmaps.bandcamp.com/album/dead-horse
Imaginos Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Check out the new Airbag album "All Rights Removed" if you liked the way Porcupine Tree sounded before "In Absentia".
Gompers Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 QUOTE (Imaginos @ Nov 16 2011, 11:55 AM)Check out the new Airbag album "All Rights Removed" if you liked the way Porcupine Tree sounded before "In Absentia". I think they have a more Floyd-like sound, but PT is a decent comparison. Anyone can here that CD streamed in full at: Link
