Always hard to pinpoint what genre Air belong, but they're prog to me. This is a soundtrack to George Melies 1902 film Le Voyage Dans La Lune(A Trip To The Moon). some of you may recognise it as footage of it was used for The Smashing Pumpkins Tonight Tonight video. That sounds amazing. You have a link to some samples? I can go one better. Here's a full album stream from the best UK daily newspaper, The Guardian: http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=guar...UUyeP7sgxz0RCuA That's some trippy great stuff! Anyway, I just now discovered Rishloo, you all must check them out. They're like Tool/APC meets Circa Survive, with perhaps a dash of Rush here and there. It's amazing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSqG57hnLgI...ideo&playnext=6 For a single track try Keyhole in the Sky.

Unfortunetly they broke up before they even released the album. http://chartsandmaps.bandcamp.com/
Good, bad, andrush Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Maps and atlases, anyone? Also, would you all consider Portugal! The man. prog? They're pretty out there and they're a fun listen.

Kinda prog, kinda post-rock. Very good indeed, very atmospheric. New album is the wonderfully titled If It Carries On Like This We Are Moving To Morecambe. I just listened to the EP Part 1 the other day. Its a single 18 minute track, but its excellent. I'm planning on buying the album too. Matt Stevens, the guitarist, has some great acoustic instrumental albums on his Bandcamp, and they're name your price to download. Once I have some money, I'm going to donate, but they're worth checking out. I only listened to "Echo" but its very good. Nice, and isn't post rock a type of prog anyway If It's good and I like it, it's prog, end of argument. That's some pretty good stuff though The Fierce & The Dead have a new EP out, called OnVHS. It is the best thing I've heard all year, all Pixies bass and Fripp loops. Fantastic stuff. http://www.google.ie/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esr...aCBEk5C9bHDLmJQ
ColdFireYYZ Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I'm in the middle of listening to Balloon Astronomy's self titled album and its very good. Nick D'Virgilio plays drums and Mike Keneally plays acoustic guitar. Its on Progstreaming and Spotify.
ColdFireYYZ Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 QUOTE (Imaginos @ Dec 21 2011, 11:25 AM) The second release by DeeExpus - "The King Of Number 33" may well be the best prog album of 2011. Here's a link... http://www.kingof33.com/the-king-of-33.htm Finally got this. I'm on my second listen and I like it but I'm not sure I like it as much as Half Way Home. Mark Kelly's keyboards fit in extremely well.
Good, bad, andrush Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Got noctourniquet and skipped school to have a listening party. Super super surprised with how different it is. There's a tiny bit of Gorillaz in there
Good, bad, andrush Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Anyone heard a big goodbye and their album Sounds and Silences? Interesting stuff, give it a shot. Solid 4 star effort that grows on you. A little PT, a little Opeth, a dash of DT, indie acoustic stuff, and influenced by Chicago and Toto as well as "contemporary classical" music.
