RUSHHEAD666
It seems I am on an Irish obsession this weekend, maybe you guys have already talked about the great Rory Gallagher. This guy was fanfokkingtastic. Even the TASTE shite is incredible and off the charts. I remember reading that Rory was considered the Irish SRV. Too bad Rory came out before SRV. RIP. I love Rory Gallagher. "Against The Grain" rules. Don't worry I won't start a thread about U2. That's for PuppetKing! LOL! Hatchetaxe&saw
Rory is Ireland's greatest musician and always will be. A wonderful man, an amazing songwriter and a hell of a guitar player. My favourite albums are his debut, Deuce, Calling Card, Live In Europe, Stagestruck & Defender. The Taste stuff is fantastic. He played a mean Alto Sax too. What a man. Speaking of which, I just heard a version of Red House from Gary Moore and nearly shat myself and I'm not the biggest blues fan either but geeeeeez...for now that cat is by far the best Irish guitar player I have ever heard. Attack, feel, tone, articulation, this dude has it ALL. And don't get me started on his metal years...man oh man

Anyhoo, Rory G, was probably the best geetarist of all time, I had the pleasure of seeing him live a couple of times and he ROCKED (or should that be BLUESED) big time. He was also a true nice guy, he'd stop and talk with - and drink with - his fans any time. He was streets ahead of SRV too - and I love SRV - but could SRV have come up with "Blister on the Moon" from Taste's debut? Of course Mr Lerxst loves Rory G's playing. He played a mean Alto Sax too. What a man. I totally agree with. I think Rory is the best musician to come out of Ireland, but would you place Phil Lynott second? Do any of the U2 members belong on this short list? I always thought that Larry Mullen Jr. was a great drummer stuck in a band that never really gave him any of the "Limelight" so to speak. Especially after "Rattle And Hum." Poor Larry. Anyway I just had another goofy idea. Wouldn't it be cool if Rory, Phil and Larry formed a band and recorded an album together?? Now that's a power trio I would have loved to have seen. Whoops! Of course the great Gary Moore should be on this list too. I remember reading on here about the rumors of Gary Moore opening for RUSH. Most of you on here were shitting bricks, totally bumming out. I was very excited about that rumor. Gary Moore is one of the best guitar players on the planet. If you guys want to check out a great compilation of Rory's stuff then go get "BIG GUNS: The Greatest Of Rory Gallagher." It's a double disc of ear candy. Or check out his live cds, he has a bunch of them and they are all MINDBLOWING!! Sincerely, "STAGE STRUCK"

I'd give second place to Van Morrison.
