We really should rename that smiley as, Ladi.

I looked at the available emoticons on TRF for investigation after reading this thread and I have come to a conclusion;

coffee.gif We have a coffee smiley? How come I didn't know about this before? biggrin.gif

i love it when some one says something like "you're a total asshole" or "go f**k yourself, then puts a wink.gif next to it. so then it's an insult with a built-in pre-emptive "I WAS ONLY JOKING!" disclaimer

it's also a passive-aggressive move and a cop-out

either have the stones to tell someone how you really feel or don't

I find 'emoticons' entirely unnecessary if you know how to write and aren't lazy

(unfortunately, messageboards foster laziness, illiteracy and passive-aggressive behavior)

Well then, if you don't like message boards, then you have the right NOT to participate in using them.

Note that there are no emoticons in this message, as I meant it the way you are taking it.

Where's the "who gives a flying f**k?" emoticon when you need it?

That could be a fun emoticon to design. A little "f**k" with wings. . .

There definitely needs to be a third option. Like sometimes, or it depends on the post. I would have to answer yes and no, it depends.

True.

I guess it all depends on whom you're conversing with...

sometimes they're completely necessary, sometimes they aren't.
