PT is running away with this one

Yep...

PT for me. I can't believe it took me so long to find them. When I saw them last year, I took my best bud (who goes to all the Rush shows with me). The conversation went something like this:

him - what kind of name is Porcupine Tree?

me - trust me...have I ever let you down?

him - no, but...

After the show...

him - *speechless*

me - what did I tell ya?

him - they may be better than Rush. laugh.gif

He's a PT junkie now.

DT, Spock's Beard & Tool are high on my list too.

If it weren't for the first 4 albums by Marillion with Fish, my vote would be for Porcupine Tree. But since all 4 of those albums are WAY too good, I'm going to have to vote for Marillion.

Okay the classifications for this poll is that the band's first album could not have been released before 1980....in all sub-generas of prog....including progressive metal

thats the stipulation.......

so vote

This is the page I used

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_progressive_rock

pretty cool

I know Marillion formed in 79, but they are still concidered part of the modern prog scene

also prog bands that formed post 1980 but are drivative of pre 1980 prog bands like Yes (ABWH, and Asia) are not included

a

one to ad to the list

...and you will know us by the trail of dead

Century of Self, their latest is a great Prog album. AMAZING live band.
