Earthshine
QUOTE (King Troll @ Oct 31 2008, 04:50 PM) QUOTE (launchpad67a @ Oct 31 2008, 10:43 AM) Who cares about Priest. This is a Simon Phillips thread and he played with much greater bands and musicians than those puff pastry boys. Look at this list. But isn't it telling that he's best remembered for Sin after Sin, and not being as good as Les Binks? I am not so sure that that is what he is best remember for. What about playing with The Who? What about Pete Townshend? Jeff Beck? Toto! The list goes on.

What's telling is that you just proved that you have no knowledge of this subject if you think Sin After Sin is what Simon is known for. Again, his massive list of accomplishments make the Priest stuff very forgetable.
the masked drummer
Highly accomplished player, for sure!!! His biography looks like a who's who of musicians. I wish he were with The Who when I saw them in 1982. Sorry, but at the time I didn't appreciate Kenny Jones' abilities, not to say he's "unaccomplished" drummer... Of course you did. What do you like? Yes I did. I like nihilism. I know SP has been around a lot, but the only album I possess - that I can readily think of - with him on is Sin after Sin, and on that basis I can only deduce he wasn't as PRIEST as feathertouch. And I've just realised that tuesday was the 30th Anniversary of me seeing PRIEST - with Les in tow - for the first time. this is a good time for me to once again show off the Priest pic I took in 1982. http://c4.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/28/l_f64beb4de4a14d66aa59628f445a9f63.jpg That outfit isn't very gay at all... yeah i was in denial back then. turns out I didn't care anyway. And it's no wonder -- aside from his brief stint with Priest, Binks hasn't done much. However, anyone who knows GOOD drummers and doesn't hide in the '70s knows about Simon Phillips, and what a versatile and monster drummer he is. So, f*ck Les Binks.
