Smudger
Motorhead are responsible for my industrial deafness - I stick my head in the bass-bins on the Bomber tour

ozzy85
I probably have a dozen albums or so, spanning from the first to Inferno. Another interesting bass player, plays through a distortion pedal and often plays chords to fatten up the sound. I first got into them in the mid-'80's when they had a guest spot on The Young Ones. Killed By Death is one of my favorite songs, Sweet Revenge, Don't Believe A Word... I could keep going. I've even sported Lemmy-style facial hair a few times (once at a buddies wedding). Rush!
I haven't heard a single thing these guys have done, but I want to download some of their shit. What's a good starting point?
HemispheresserehpsimeH
QUOTE (Rush! @ Jun 11 2008, 10:50 AM) I haven't heard a single thing these guys have done, but I want to download some of their shit. What's a good starting point? Well, their 2 newest albums, Inferno and Kiss of Death are very well done. Or you can go back and get their older albums like Ace of Spades, Overkill, and move your way to Bastards, 1916, Bomber, etc. You can't really lose with these guys. Puckfiend
Last saw them a couple years ago at the House of Blues: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y109/CRSCHKUM6/IMbb/Motorhead05.jpg Seen them a few times over the years. Saw them at a small venue in San Juan Capistrano years ago and they lost sound in the middle of a song. Lemmy kept playing bass and then started looking around with a WTF?? look on his face. It's amazing how big they sound with just three guys.
GeddyLeeRoth
I really dig Motorhead but only have "Classics". What studio album should I pick up if I only get one? I was thinking Orgasmatron since it was released after their classics album.

As regards 90s Motorhead I notice you mention the more celebrated 1916 and Bastards, but to my mind the Head album of the 90s is Sacrifice!! Yes Orgasmatron is great and if you haven't got Another Perfect Day get that too. Make sure you get Sacrifice and 1916 and then get Bastards. We are Motorhead is not bad, but Inferno and Kiss of Death are essential!! Hammered is probably one to not bother with...

treeduck
Just a quick Motorhead observation and opinion... I was listening to the Hammered and 1916 albums and made a comparison; for me Hammered is way, way better than 1916, even though I know this is the oppostite view of the general consensus. To me though Hammered just sounds like proper HEAVY Motorhead, while 1916 sounds like boogie taking it easy coasting Motorhead, plus there's notihng as cool as Red Raw on 1916. AND I think Phil Taylor was burned out and finished by the time the 90s came around, Mickey Dee does a far better drumming job these days... I have tenth row center at the Shoreline for Priest Heaven Motorhead and Testicle, I mean Testament. MOTORHEAD RULES! ORGASMATRON "COMES" TO MIND, but "ACE OF SPADES" is by far a MOTORMETAL CLASSIC! I CAN'T WAIT FOR LEMMY'S NEW MOVIE COMING SOON TO PUSSYCAT THEATER NEAR YOU! LOL!! Actually I can't wait for the dvd! I am sure this flick will never be in any American Movie House. Lame as FOKK! Lemmy is "THE BOMBER!" It is strange Duck that we are always on the same wavelength. I saw the trailer too a few weeks ago and the joke at the end left me baffled. Cheers! Forget UP THE IRONS! Enough Maiden for now. I say UP THE IRON FIST BABY! Without Lemmy, METAL would be Soft Christopher Cross Shite. Without Christopher Cross, SAXON never would have covered that terrible song called "RIDE LIKE THE WIND!" Does anyone own any HAWKWIND with Lemmy on vocals?????
