GhostGirl
QUOTE (sullysue @ Jul 24 2007, 08:56 AM) QUOTE (Sark @ Jul 24 2007, 08:52 AM) Just to warn ya'all it's been raining here for a couple of days, and if it's not raining its been well into the 100's. So pack what you need to cope! Bah! No problem for me. We southerners can handle it. I was looking forward to that "dry hot" your area is famous for. But, I'm used to sauna-like conditions. Besides, how hot can it be sitting in a bar? Exactly!

Being from back east, I love the rain and it's a real event for me when it rains here. Yeah, the lightning was really putting on a show. I only hope it didn't start a fire somewhere. Oh, and I only warn about the rain because if you plan on driving or getting anywhere while it's raining, allow for extra time. People out here seem to freak out at the slightest little bit of precipitation. They seem to either drive way too recklessly, or way too overly cautious. That creates quite the interesting driving experience. I'm originally from Minnesota and I've driven through blizzards let alone a little rain. I hope it's just hot and sunny. Like people said, it's always nice weather inside a bar!

GotRush
QUOTE (pedro2112 @ Jul 24 2007, 01:20 PM) Dont worry about the rain. By friday, there will be no rain and it will be around 100 degrees. No worry's..... For Vegas, the type of weather that effects Vegas in July/Aug is Hit & Miss Monsoon type thunder storms. They come & go fast, Very hard to predect from one day to the Next. Plus the MGM Casino has layers of protection, Rain or Shine the show will be in Perfect climate control !! Now here in Phoenix, We have been hit by Dust & Rain (storms) for 2 days in a row. RUSH is playing an OUTDOOR venue Here ! These Massive Dust/Thunder Storms like to hit between 7 & 11 pm nightly & Friday they Predict will be another Active night Here. In the last 30 days here in Phoenix 1/2 were Above 110 degrees I happened to be in Vegas for the Flood of 1999 (july 6) Monsoons storms came from the West @ about 9am This cause the mountains west of the city to flood, causing the Dry rivers to fill. The Flamingo road parallels the Flamingo Wash & is Dry for years on end, But when it rains hard it flows, when is rains like in 1999 it becomes deadly. The intersection of Flamingo & Las Vegas Blvd was under 2 feet of Water, That seem OK, But the Forum Shops @ Ceasers were under 5 feet of water. The fountains at Bellagio were under 10 feet of additional water. For the first time in recent history the rivers of the vegas valley flowed the 100 miles & poured into Lake Mead

Packing tonight! Cool, new traveling gear. I bought a rolling suitcase and carry on bag for a TINY amount of $ recently...it's hot pink, which probably explains the price tag. I like it, though. It's easy to spot on the baggage carousel. I needed a new bag. I'd been using my daughter's Dora Explorer suitcase for the last two trips.
