Will Rodney Be back this week??????

Or is this just another mind game?

He had been listed as out with a knee injury before each of the Patriots' other playoff games, a 37-16 win over the New York Jets and a 24-21 victory over the Chargers in San Diego. A doubtful designation means there's a 75 percent chance he won't play. He didn't practice Jan. 17.

Harrison smiled as he walked through the locker room in street clothes without a noticeable limp before his teammates practiced. He sprained his right knee in the regular-season finale, his second game back since missing six games with a broken right shoulder blade.

On Jan. 16, Harrison said little about his chances of playing.

"We'll see," he said after watching Boston College beat Miami 82-63 in basketball. "Day-to-day." Full Story Link

Are the New England Patriots going to trip Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts as they try once again to cross the threshold to the Super Bowl?

Yes.

Winning in late January (and early February, for that matter) is what the Patriots do. It is what Bill Belichick does. It is what Tom Brady does. The opponent doesn't matter (see what happened in the divisional round at San Diego, which had the NFL's most talented team this season). The Pats simply can't be stopped when they reach this point, and the Colts have the misfortune of being in their way.

Peyton Manning's biggest nemesis stands in his way of that elusive title.

One of the Patriots' keys to success against the Colts will be their ability to win most of their battles at the line of scrimmage. Their defensive front is as solid as any in the league. This unit should be able to get good penetration and force Manning to often have to move out of the pocket.

Manning, who has struggled badly in his last two games, tends to be less effective when he has to throw on the run. And nose tackle Vince Wilfork and defensive ends Richard Seymour and Ty Warren will see to it that that's the case by collapsing the front of Manning's pocket.

The good news for Manning is that he no longer has to deal with ball-hawking cornerback Ty Law, who proved a constant thorn in his side when he was with New England (and did so again when the Colts faced Kansas City in the wild-card round).

The bad news for Manning is that he must deal with another ball-hawking cornerback, Asante Samuel, who tied for the league lead with 10 interceptions and returned one for a touchdown in the Patriots' wild-card win over the Jets.

The Patriots' defensive scheming should help the cause of the secondary by using a variety of fronts and coverages to bait Manning into poor decisions and throws. That is extremely difficult to do, but the Pats have done it repeatedly.

Will the Patriots offense be able to find success on the ground against the Colts run defense, which has made an off-the-charts improvement since hitting rock-bottom in league rankings during the regular season?

Yes.

The key is persistence, and one can expect the Patriots to attempt to run more often against the Colts than they did against the Chargers.

The Pats are not the least bit discouraged or intimidated that the Chiefs and Ravens struggled to move the ball on the ground against Indianapolis. They believe their impressive duo of Corey Dillon and rookie Laurence Maroney can combine for solid production that will ease some of the burden on Tom Brady, whose arm has to be tired after his 51 pass attempts against San Diego, and keep Manning and his receivers on the sideline as long as possible.

The Patriots will use the more powerful Dillon as a hammer to wear down the Colts' smallish defensive front. That will set the stage for Maroney, a threat to go the distance every time he touches the ball, to run away from a defense too weary from Dillon's pounding to catch him from behind.

They've had their fair share of LUCK. You can't deny that. I'm not taking it away from Brady, but here you have a fumble go their way for a win. In the future it will be tossed up to the fact that "the incredible playoff team" of Brady and Belichik made the win possible. no.gif Not ALWAYS the case.

So much for that theory . . .

Wow, what a game!  Indy gets the dog off their back, finally, and doesnt choke.  Colts/Bears Super Bowl!

Yep, great game. Biggest comeback in NFL Conference Championship game history, at least according to the announcers.
