TheCaskOf43
Just had to say it. Its not musically the most technical, not lyrically the deepest, not technically the most elaborate, not Geddy's best Rick tone... But damn it if its not one of the best songs of all time. Its sooooo moody, dark, rich, thick, and warm...its recorded PERFECTLY. Perfect drum sound. Excellent use of dynamics. Unbelievable singing. Pure emotion. Great imagery. Catchy as f***. THIS is Rush. One of their best.

Planet X-1
Great tune ! but I think the whole album is absolutely top notch, I don`t understand why it didn`t age with the band. Alex`s clean sound is perfect.... Edited June 20, 2006 by Planet X-
gaijin97
I used to put that side of CoS on and fall asleep to it...then I would wake up hoping for overcast days. ;-)
GeddyRulz
Alex's most emotional guitar solo EVER. Great guitar work throughout... very moody.

One of their best. We finally agree on something. Awesome song!!! Sometimes I wonder how they sit and came up with that stuff. How does Alex come up with such strange chords/Arpeggios and make them work really well. If you don't like Geddy's screechy style, then you wouldn't appreciate his performance here... but, his voice is so over the top and eerie on that song; I wouldn't have it any other way. Great stuff. LASHED-HELPLESS-TO-THE-MAST
I never payed much attention to COS until about 6 months ago. Now, except the "bald" song, it is one of my favorites. I think that this album clearly shows an "underlying theme". Well, to me that is. "My eyes have just been opened and their open very wide". That line gives me chills (the good kind). I think Lamneth is perfect from beginning to end and shows that the guys are not about commercialism but about putting their feelings out their. If a song, or in this case the whole catalog of Rush music, can touch me in the depths of my heart, that's some great stuff!

Pags
COS was the last of the albums I got into. It sat on a shelf for years. That's completely changed, now. I've been on an obsession with it that has yet to quit. And No One At The Bridge is the height of it all. That guitar solo with the rhythm chords behind it.. it's just beyond words. circumstantial tree
Maybe I should pop into my tape player (I have yet to buy the remaster CD and my vinyl can't be played due to lack of needle). "No one at the Bridge" and "Bacchus Plateau" are probably the best tunes on that side of the record.

porthleven's rose
God-I wish they would-- All of CofS is stunning anyway- wish they'd play the whole of The Fountain of Lamneth as a show opener-I bet it would bring the house down!!
wideanglewatcher
If you live in ct ,this saturday hemispheres will be performing no one at the bridge no matter what the cost to the singer lol (me) we have been doing this song for a long time...one of my all time faves.....it's just a powerful tune...... steelcaressed
Superb effort throughout, w/ an energy level that is only matched on 2112. I usually use COS for tailgating since they rarely play anything from it. It always surprises me how many Rush fans don't recognize it. Also, don't underestimate the juxtaposition of a song like Panacea immediately following it, then the celebratory flavor of Bacchus Plateau. All of the sections of it have their own flavor and place, and the placement is near perfect. One of their most complete works.

One of their best. You know what... I cut my Rush teeth on Archives. I picked it up on 8-track in like '81. Before it, I only had ESL. I drove all over Seattle, thousands of miles wearing out my Archives tape. Thanks for reminding me... and now I am listening to CoS today!! BigAlH
I hadn't listened to CoS in probably... 10+ years or so. I popped it in last week and was taken back about 27 years when I first got that album. Was like a time machine. Not much else to say other than it's an awesome album!
