I really disliked ToT because I'd start with As I Am and I'd turn it off...it really isn't good to my ears.

TOT is all about In the Name of God.

Top 5 DT tune for me.

Mick

Two songs aside...the whole album is a winner! I really do enjoy my edited copy more. I see nowt wrong in that!

In The Name Of God is good stuff!

i don't mind as I Am one bit actually. great opener actually.

Especially at Budokan.

Mick

That's because it's a good song!

Bass distortion w/ harmonics:

BUUUUUUMMMM!!

Doo de doo da de doo doo....

BUUUUUUMMMM!!

Doo de doo da de doo doo....

YES!!! yhe bass opening.

then the band explodes open. i got such a rush just from watching that on DVD, lol

Mick

Good thing, because it's also the only song on Budokan where LaBrie's voice doesn't suck!!

As I Am rocks!

To those who understand, I extend my hand.

Great live tune.

That and This Dying soul is just a great one, two punch to start the album.

This Dying Soul is my fav of Mike's AA Suite

Glass Prison all the way!

Followed by Root of All Evil, then This Dying Soul (suffers from too much wankery at the end), then Repentance (The Barry White monologues!), and finally The Cut n' Paste Fortress.

I used to have a playlist of the 12 step suite on my iPod. Pretty cool to listen to the songs one after the other.

Do you think they'll ever play the whole thing live?

Will never happen if you ask me. that band had such a dramatic split. i doubt portnoy will ever come back. maybe years down the line as a one off. but full time.....no. funny thing is DT has played the Shattered fortress without him. But you wouldn't see the whole thing sans Portnoy. i don't think anyway.

Portnoy remains my favourite DT drummer.

Honestly feel the last three albums suffer due to his loss.

Six Degrees is amazing!

Actually I am going to be truly honest here...the more I listen to these guys the less amazing Scenes becomes. They don't have a single stand out album.

They have a whole bunch of standout albums.

And Scenes may actually be slipping way down the list...

Team Rock magazine has decided to rank DTs albums. I'm no expert, but their number three is bound to be controversial around here, so here's the link.

New albums are always hyped.

I read the article and it's what got me back into them!

Quite glad actually, I had forgotten how addictive they are.

Build Me Up, Break Me Down is an outstanding song.

Not sure why it's not more popular. I read several reviews and it doesn't seem to stand out for most fans.

My dad loves that song to death, Segue. You're not alone.

Like Misunderstood, it is one of the songs I feel the strongest emotional connection too.

Love to see love for A Dramatic Turn Of Events, and I'll forgive you The Astonishing since 1. I'm still no expert and 2. You've made it very clear how and why you hate that album. :P
