Neil Peart's R30 Drumset: Piece By Piece Pricing B

For anyone who would like to see why Neil Peart's R30 drumset is valued at over $75,000.00 (US Dollars), here is a piece by piece, item by item and part by part breakdown of everything that I could identify on his current R30 drumset. There are certainly 'unknown prices' for items like the custom holographic appliqu'es and red pinstriping on each drum, the custom rotating drum riser, the 24K Gold plating for all of the drum hardware (cymbal and tom stands), the DW Custom Maple Wood Drum Shells for each V Drum Pad, and road cases for transporting everything, so the list isn't EXACTLY complete...however, I believe that it is close.

If anyone has any additional items to add that I may have omitted, please feel free to suggest. Believe me, I am certainly not an expert on identifying these items, but...I hope I have come close to accurately pricing each item currently on Neil's R30 drum set. It should also be noted that I listed the Suggested Retail Prices of each and every item, so there would be a considerable discount (depending on where you shopped) on the Grand Total price. Imagine the smile on the Guitar Center employee's face that rang up this list of percussive bliss!!!

(In each of the categories, the first price is the price of each of the items, and the second price is the quantity multiplied by how many items. There is a category summary and grand total at the very end.)

Mics don't count as part of the kit. The prices you listed are retail. For instance you have the Paragon complete set listed as $3,519.00 but the actual street price is $2005.00 (currently at Musician's Friend) and I have seen them for $1900 elsewhere, including case. Anyone who pays $15 for a pair of sticks is getting ripped off. Those sell for around $7 per pair.

When I spoke to the DW rep at the NAMM show where the kit was displayed prior to the R30 tour (and recording of Feedback) he told me that the valued cost of the drums and hardware was around $48 k. That includes the shells made by DW for the Roland V-Drums (Roland mesh head triggers installed by Lorne). Neil's toms and bass drums feature newly developed technology that was just made commercially available this year.

Also because Neil is fully endorsed I doubt he or the band paid anything for the drums, hardware, cymbals or sticks.

Please re-read my second paragraph, CygnusX-1Bk2...it fully explains that the pricing is Suggested Retail Pricing.

Please re-read my second paragraph, CygnusX-1Bk2...it fully explains that the pricing is Suggested Retail Pricing. I know, as well as many others that if you are not getting at least a 40% to 50% discount on musical equipment these days...you are getting ripped off by the musical retailers. I was recently able to get a 64% discount on some DW drums that I just purchased. Please realize, my friend, that I listed the "Suggested Retail Pricing" to show a company suggested value of all the things on Neil's drum riser....I am fully aware that Neil Peart didn't have to write a $75K check for the complete list.

Also, how do you know that Neil is fully endorsed by Remo, DW, Sabian, Pro-Mark, etc. We don't have access to ANY endorsement information that Neil Peart has setup with any of these companies. Those type of deals are completely 'Hush-Hush' so that other endorsees don't get jealous of another's deal. Although I agree that Neil most deserved-ly lucrative endorsement deal, unless you have seen his actual contract...please don't make a comment that he is 'fully endorsed' by anyone.

As far as mics not being a part of the drum set....maybe....but, I was going for a total package price of everything that sits on Neil's rotating drum riser and allows him to sound like he sounds. You can also say that the water bottle holder, the Mallet KAT, and even the Roland Samplers aren't REALLY a part of his drumset...but, they certainly are a part of Neil's current drumming universe of sounds and miscellaneous drum riser items. Of course, Neil's technique, drumming prowess, 40+ years of drumming experience and knowledge is the greatest contributing factor to the 'Neil Peart Sound'.

It was my understanding that it was a 30th anniversary gift to Neil from DW.

To be fair he could get by with my old Pearl Predator 5 piece and still be the greatest drummer ever to have lifted a stick in anger.

The drums don't make the man, he is a legend in his own lifetime, the benchmark for all aspiring drummers/percussionists. He's the best there is so it makes perfect sense to have the best equipment whatever the cost. Nice to think I've paid for a miniscule amount of it over the years.

It is a shit hot kit though, got kinda close to it at Wembley.............spent 15 minutes before the gig just staring at it like a retard wacko.gif

I remember when i saw the kit durring the Kit Tour, and his drum tech said the shells are worth $70,000 dollars just the shells. so i would believe it would be more twords $100,00. but i dont care, i love the way it looks!

Don't feel bad, I don't think there's any other way to look at it.

Another interesting point about DW drums are that Pacific drums by DW are of the same construction, made of the same exact maple, on the same machines, and the only difference is that the Pacific's are made by Juan(Mexicao) and the DW's are made by John(California). BTW, the Pacifics are about maybe 20% the cost of DW...

I'm sure I'll get lots of criticism about this by people that own DW kits, but that's what the DW rep told my buddy who's a dealer and sells both... rofl3.gif

The Paragons are not as expensive as you have listed. I got the entire set for $1500 cash.

I then got $700 for my trade and it was $800 out the door.

The starting price was $1900 and some change and I got the dealer down to $1500.

The Paragons are EXACTLY as I have listed, Test4Eco23. Please re-read my second paragraph. I listed RETAIL prices only.

No matter what the price of the drums were . . . .

Lets start the bidding , now that he's touched them !

I could only imagine what they would go for at auction .

It is such a beautiful set .

I'm not a greedy man . . . . all I want for Christmas is that drum set and Shakira smile.gif
