I've been slowly digesting Paradise Lost over the last few weeks. I mainly knew The Plague Within previously but I'm enjoying the others I've heard (Draconian Times, Medusa, Obsidian). It makes me want to dive back into Katatonia I got the EP a few years ago when the band did a signing for a hometown show. It's probably the sole EP in my entire collection and it always hits right when I crave a short burst of heavy music. Something about that song hits right. I'm also a big fan of Panic Attack and Devil in Disguise.

Been honing in on the Chili Peps lately, reading Rick Rubin’s book simultaneously. I’m really fascinated and inspired by their chemistry. More so than almost any other band, I think the thing that makes them great is their spiritual bond to both each other and to the source of their art. The fact that they excel at writing accessible pop songs is more miraculous than any of their individual talents to me.

I think their chemistry has grown in later years, in particular.
