I did quite like Awaken The Master I really like it, don't straight up love it the way I do many of my faves, but I'd put it alongside the self titled as an album that really grows on you. 2
Pressure/Hopenosis Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 While cutting the lawn today. Bought this album on artwork alone while crusing the new release wall at the local record store. One of my best purchases that started the musical journey into metal! 11

I don't say this is their greatest album by a long shot, but I think it's their masterwork. Seventh Son is very close second, Powerslave third and Number fourth. 1
yyz305 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I love all 18 tracks on this. Has taken numerous listens, though, to get my head around it all. I could say the same for the 18 tracks on the follow up, too. 5
bluefox4000 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Mastodon-Once More Round The Sun (7/10) In listening closer this album has grown on me a ton. It's amazing how much this sounds like a Blue Oyster Cult Album in tracks ike The Motherload Once More Round The Sun Asleep in the Deep Ember City Halloween Tread Lightly and those are my fav Tracks. but i find a whole bunch of Lesser tracks in it. Not a fan of Chimes at Midnight. High Road The grammy song is (of course) the safest song on here but i like it enough. Aunt Lisa is i'm sorry....bad. with that lumineers like chant on it at the end. And the closing track Diamond In the Witch House has so much potential but is utterly ruined by being a scott Kelly feature and lead. And it goes on FOREVER So there's my reasons for being not my fave and ultimately just an ok album. Mick 1

Still struggling with DoT. but i like it. but it's a bit offbeat and i still can't really get it in focus in my brain. BUT it was and is a fine album on the whole. kinda like how i feel about Awake too. Mick

My favorite Prince album, truth be told. Queen - Hot Space, The Works, A Kind of Magic Frank Zappa - Studio Tan The Rutles - Archaeology 1 1
