James Taylor-New Moon Shine (9/10)

JT's one of the few 70's singer/Songwriters in my book to not only  make great 80's albums.  but thrive WELL after with great later albums.

this is one of em.  he had like 2 more great's after this too.

Dire Straits-Communique (10/10)

in their canon i think this is their most underappreciated. I put it over the debut.

I've seen it ranked dead last, which is sacrilege

Dan fogelberg-Phoenix (9/10)

As somebody who loves this genre and is well versed in it (and modest about it, lol)  Fogelberg is the definition of a quick fix artist.  he's like what you go for if you want a singer/songwriter speed run.

having said that i adore him.  he's the pop-iest chessiest of all them (him and Denver) but he's so good and endearing at it that i don't care.

though Longer can suck a huge cock, lol

Well well well well welllllll

I have a soft spot for Lorna Shore. I think their songwriting sells them short at times but I genuinely believe they have it in them do release a genre defining classic.

Immortal and Bathory...EP WELCOME TO MY DARK SIDE

Hehe Longer can su...

Anyway I get what you mean about Fogelberg. His music is like Gilmore Girls to other artists more sophisticated, adult Sopranos.

But hey! Sometimes we like the cute and the cuddly.

But yeah Longer can s...oh the doorbell rang, hold up

Dokken- Back For The Attack

I love Dokkens first four albums. I've not enjoyed much from after their heyday. This album is terrific eighties metal.

I was wondering when you were gonna see this, lol.

I’ve decided I’ve waiting long enough to give myself black metal 101. Got some recs from a local metal head I’m gonna spin in the next couple days. Do you have any?

Oh I also spun

Darkthrone - Transylvanian Hunger

Lee Zeppelin - The Song Remains The Same

yeaterday.

I highly recommend for you and your love of melodic music, here are soms classic HEAVIES:

In Flames- Whoracle (their pre-commercial days. A death metal Iron Maiden)

Dissection- Storm Of The Light's Bane

Dark Tranquility- Projector

These are melodic Death metal but they really do add to a black metal binge.

Oh and I'd also throw in one more:

Paradise Lost- Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us

Because you really need to check out Britain's most undervalued influential band

1. From the gazillion new records I’ve checked out this year:

Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good!

The throwback modern tinged disco thing Dua Lipa does but better.

2. Just from things I have:

The Tangent - A Spark In The Aether

Anthemic, very well produced and written modern prog.

3. From my local music scene in DC:

Rosie Cima And What She Dreamed - Realm Of The Warring Gods

Emotive and imagery laden poetry set to western tinged indie rock. Very well produced for something made by people I’m actually friends with.
