just so you know.  This is my least fav Survivor album easily and it still gets a 9.  that's how good these guys are, lol

Before you and Segue started talking about them I thought Eye Of The Tiger was the only thing this band ever released 😄

Stone Sour is excellent. Corey Taylor doesn't half ass anything he's involved in. That is definitely one of their best albums along with Come Whatever May. Part 2 of Gold and Bones wasn't anywhere near as good as the first one but it is still good. The band I believe is broken up now. They just weren't getting along with each other anymore. Corey has a solo album coming out. The first two singles, "Beyond" and "Post Traumatic Blues" are good. A bit of a Stone Sour feel to both songs.

That's my top three!

I do like Slipknot but I really do love Stone Sour more.

May revisit both

Here you go, Duck of the Tree. No particular order within each tier.

1. Songs From the Wood

2. Stand Up, Benefit, Thick As a Brick

3. Aqualung, Heavy Horses, Minstrel in the Gallery

4. A Passion Play, Stormwatch

5. The Broadsword and the Beast, This Was

6. War Child, A

7. Too Old to Rock 'n' Roll, J-Tull Dot Com, Under Wraps

8. Crest of a Knave, Rock Island, Catfish Rising, Roots to Branches

9. RökFlöte, The Zealot Gene

The only real surprises might be that I don't rank Aqualung quite as highly as most Tull fans seem to, and that I have Crest of a Knave so low (I don't care for Dire Straits-influenced Tull).

Yeah the tiers make sense in terms of which eras you prefer. There's similarities to my own rankings and of course there's differences. Overall it's more similar than different though.

Captain TD,

As I’m someone who never really delved into the JT back catalogue, I was wondering …

* which is their most Metal Album?

* which is their best AOR/80’s synth album?

* from a guitarist point of view  .. which album has the best riffs & solos ?

The most metal album I would say is Benefit from 1970, their big synth album is Under Wraps from 1984. Broadsword and the Beast kind of combines the a 70s Tull vibe with an 80s synth vibe that was the one before Under Wraps from 1982. For guitars I'd probably say Minstrel in the Gallery and Thick as a Brick but there's great guitar stuff on every album really. Actually the best guitar album might be TULL's big live album from 1978 Bursting Out.

Also try Crest of a Knave for an 80s pop/hard rock style, again it has old school Tull elements as well but also a kind of Dire Straits vibe. This was the one that won the 1988 grammy for metal!
