Just a handful of songs, I barely have time to listen to music these days. What's impressive is the amount of detail their songs, both musically and lyrically -- QOTMS was released six years ago when they were aged 18, 16 and 13, and there's some serious song craft going on there. Of the songs I've heard so far, Ugh is the best example of that. The Error album is right there too, especially lyrically.

Barely have time to listen to music? Oh I can’t imagine :(

Yes, being able to write the way that they have at such young ages is one of the big things that impresses fans the most with the first three albums. I've always said it feels like they're writing songs that someone who is ten years older would be writing. There's a lot of little things in what they do musically that people don't pick up on right away. At first, the songs seem pretty straight and to the point which the majority of their songs are. But after a few listens you can hear little things going on in the background. Dany is really good at this. She plays subtle but interesting things on guitar beneath the vocals. Pau always seems to play exactly what's right for the song but always has really good drum fills and wisely chooses where to put them. Ale holds it all together with her bass.

Error and QOTMS are definitely my favorite albums from them. Error was recorded during the pandemic so they really had some time to work with the songs and get everything perfect. They didn't have that luxury with Keep Me Fed though as they recorded the album last year between touring as the record label put a tight timeframe on when they wanted it released. Lyrically, the album suffered a little bit because of that when compared to Error. The lyrics are more honest and to the point on KMF. Musically they're doing a lot of new things on the album but due to the pace that they had to record it, all of the songs are pretty short and some of them follow the same formula. Still a good, hard rocking and catchy album.

Ok, informative fanboy post over 😄

Their stage presentation just got a huge upgrade. I don't know if this setup is following them around on this tour -- it could be just these Mexico dates -- but that's a seriously impressive show.

This was their first arena headlining show. It was at the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City. They have another show there tonight and another one on the 11th. The arena fits 10,000 and they sold out all three nights. They also have big venues coming up in Guadalajara and Monterrey. A production this size will not be with them on tour. They are not playing big enough places yet in other parts of the world. It's easier to do in Mexico since they are from there and can draw huge crowds. They're still only drawing a few thousand people per show outside of Mexico. For some reason the rest of the world is slow to catching on to them which I still don't understand three years into being a fan. They are so easily marketable. It boggles my mind that they're not an arena band everywhere yet.

Musically, I'd say their closest parallel is Muse. I didn't follow Muse much when they first started out. How long did it take them to start headlining arenas?

TW have been around for 10 years but they started when they were literally kids. They were very underground until KMF, and while that album has increased their exposure, they're still not at Muse's level of draw. Yeah, they probably should be, but they're still in their early 20s so it could still happen.

Muse is their biggest influence and they have opened for them. Matt Bellamy even gifted Dany a custom made Manson guitar. If you ever see Dany playing a yellow guitar that's the one Matt gave her. She's also been gifted a Gibson explorer from Lzzy Hales and Orianthi gave Dany one of her custom made PRS guitars which is Dany's main brand.

Yeah, their path to becoming big has been a bit different with them starting out so young and being an all female independent rock band from Mexico for their first two albums. I kind of see similarities to Metallica with their rise. Their third album is the one that really introduced them to many people. Their fourth album widened their audience significantly and hopefully, like Metallica, it's the fifth album that makes them huge.

So a couple other things happened at this show. Dany did a guitar solo for what I think is the first time ever live and it was a very David Gilmour kind of solo. The other is for Consume. The drummer from the opening band, Holy Wars, came out to play and Pau was able to be the front woman for a song.

Very interesting developments. Wonder if Pau is gonna lean into this role more often in the future. She seemed to really enjoy it.

I can't imagine her giving up the drums, she's too good at it and she definitely enjoys hitting things with sticks.

No, she is not going to give up playing the drums. They would need to always have an extra member on tour for that to happen. I don't think that's in the plans/budget right now. The drummer for the opening band, Holy Wars, came out to play so she could do something special for the big shows. She did the same thing for the Teatro Metropolitan show a couple years ago. Her drum teacher played during Narcisista and she went out front for that one.

I'm liking the extended outro here.

They've done this with a number of songs on this Mexican tour. They did a little drum intro to Sick, they play the opening riff to Sharks an extra time over, the intro to Consume is longer and they extended the outro for Automatic Sun. While most fans like KMF, one of the main criticisms is that the songs are too short. Most of them barely go over 3 minutes. Most fans get it. They're on the cusp of becoming bigger so they had to write more accessible songs. They were also on a tight time frame at the end of 2023 when they were recording KMF in between tour dates. So they pretty much had to get in there and record as fast as possible and there wasn't much time to do anything extra. All these songs extensions seem very natural and like they should have been part of the songs to begin with. There was some real pressure from the label to make everything shorter and more accessible. The label wouldn't give them the money to record unless they provided them with 3 singles first. That's how More, HYCAD and Sick came to be. So, we definitely know what the record label wanted out of them. I think the extensions on these songs may have been what the band originally wanted to do but the label made them shorten things up. Because even though they've always written short songs, on their other albums it still feels like they gave them more room to breathe musically then they did with KMF.

This guy's reactions to The Warning seem to be getting a lot of love in the fan community. I haven't watched any of them since music reactions almost always annoy me 😄

I avoid most reaction videos as well, the only ones I tend to watch are by musicians and music teachers. This guy is a vocal coach so his comments on Pau's singing while drumming are interesting.

They are in South America right now. They played their first shows ever in Brazil opening for The Offspring. Now they're finishing up with some headlining shows. As always, the crowds in Argentina are something else.

I saw clips from one of the Brazil shows. They drew the daytime slot and there wasn't a huge crowd there for them. Those Argentina shows look much better.

They had to cancel the show in Santiago, Chile tonight. I guess one of them is sick. The statement they put out was in Spanish and translated to "health issues" as the reason.

They had to cancel the last two shows of their South American tour and fly back home due to whatever the health issue is that one of them is dealing with. Supposedly it's Ale who's sick according to some things that have been seen/heard. The good news is that whoever is sick is well enough to fly home. Chile to Monterey isn't a short trip either.

Well enough to fly home, but more telling IMO, sick enough to cancel not one but two two shows. I imagine it's a big decision to cancel a headlining gig, especially in places you've never played before, disappointing a crowd that's been waiting to see you (unless you're Axl Rose and don't give a shit).

They cancelled three shows total. All three cities they headlined in two years ago. I'm guessing whatever it is has a longer recovery time that wouldn't allow them to play but it's not so bad that they can't travel and are not at threat of getting anyone else sick.
