Entre_Perpetuo
I'm sure these two albums share plenty of fans, totally definitely...
invisible airwave
Worth noting Trout is now available on Qobuz streaming which I use. Most underrated and best service. Suck it, Spotify. I've been getting into him and Zappa lately and streamed the album on some Youtube playlist. Tom Waits was right in the quote below about this album. “Once you've heard Beefheart it's hard to wash him out of your clothes. It stains, like coffee or blood.“

zepphead
I could never really warm to The Captain so it is Clapton by default.
Mosher
Captain, definitely. Safe As Milk is a better introduction for the unseasoned ear, though. The safe music of Clapton or the risks of Beefheart. Easy choice for me.

I LOVE beefheart. and he actually does have more "normal" Stuff Safe as MilkClear Spot but i get such a kick out of the weird stuff, lol Mick
78jazz
I never understood Captain Beefheart. I feel he is a bad attempt at Frank Zappa (and for that sort of weirdness, I may opt for Wild Man Fischer over the Captain).
