2019 MLB Season Thread! Harper? Vlad Jr.? A's New Stadium? Play Ball!!

Phillies off to a good start. The headlines were all about Harper - but the rest of the real story in scoring 49 runs in the first 6 games has been everyone else, including the bottom of the order (who were the top of the order last year, Hernandez, Herrera, and Franco) - and McCutchen, Realmuto, Segura, and with Harper just in front of him at #3 spot, Hoskins has been deadly at #4 too.

I have Harper in Fantasy! GO PHILLIES! My A's were there first!! LOL!

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2777037-chris-davis-161m-megadeal-has-spiraled-into-mlbs-worst-contract-bust.amp.html

"...when a team signs a guy to a seven-year, $161 million contract, it generally hopes said guy isn't one of Major League Baseball's worst players by the third year of that deal.

Davis was bad enough when he managed only a .732 OPS, 26 home runs and minus-0.1 rWAR (the Baseball Reference version of wins above replacement) in 2017. Now he's sunk to a .500 OPS, four homers and minus-1.0 WAR in 2018."

"Chris Davis is on the verge of making history, but it’s the kind of which no baseball player would want a part. After an 0-for-4 outing at the plate Sunday, the Orioles first baseman has now gone 44 straight at-bats without a hit, putting him within two fruitless at-bats of the MLB record."

Meltdown.

The Milwaukee Brewers are 6-1 to start the season, having taken 3 of 4 from their hated rival Cardinals and 3 straight from the Reds in Cincinnati.

Freddy Peralta roared back from a shaky debut last week to stifle the Reds today, 1-0.

8 innings, 100 pitches, 11 K's, 0 runs, 2 hits, 0 walks. :haz: :haz:

Thank you PM!

I just picked up this stud kid in fantasy!

How about my A's baby!?????

F THE RED SUXXXX!

They won 11 playoff games last season. How many have the As won this century?

Aw look how quickly you guys got cocky lol.

The Sox aren’t good this year. Not sure why praising the As requires ripping them.

Because dissing the Yankees gets boring once in a while......

Oh, go celebrate your f*cking Super Bowl 52 win again.

The only thing that kept him from the worst season of all time last year was that he got benched.

Cubs finally have a winning record when scoring 10 or more runs, 3-2. Now if they can only win one when they don't (0-5).

Unfortunately, Davis is already 0-3 tonight.

He is an example of why I struggle with the huge contracts.

In his best season, Chris Davis had 6 more HRs than Henry Aaron in his best.

(Best in terms of HRs at least.)

Aaron hit 24 or more home runs every year from 1955 through 1973.

Tampa starts thier season with a new club record. The Rays have taken the 1st 3 series in a row, Astros, Rockies & Giants. A franchise history 1st!

Make it four (White Sox)

I looked up the phrase "mind-boggling" in the dictionary, and this factoid was listed. :notworthy: :notworthy:

And yet, he was not a unanimous inductee into the Hall of Fame.

Baltimore Orioles' Chris Davis sets another record in futility, but remains encouraged by fans

Chris Davis set another unfortunate historic mark Thursday night in a loss against the Oakland Athletics.

Davis, who hasn’t had a hit in his last 53 at-bats, is now hitless in last 61 plate appearances.

If they're going to have these games last four hours, at least hire umpires that know wtf a checked swing is.
