Tampa started out sluggish on game 2 of a back to back and the Isles brought it to their visitors! Going up 3-0 (2 of which were within 16 seconds of each other) created a long road to hoe for the lightning. Not that we have not come back from big early deficits before, coming back from 3-0 makes it a lot tougher especially when power play opportunities are squandered. Then losing V. Hedman to a freak collision with a ref didn't help things either. The Islanders defense was very strong and Griess's netminding outstanding! It seems Trotz has his team coached up and all involved did their studying & homework! The 2nd period me Bolts signs of life and put in the work out shooting the Isles 22-14 but nothing was getting to the back of the net except one long rocket shot from Ryan McDounagh. But that would be it for the Tampa scoring. Hats off to the Islanders (especially their 4th line)! They tamed the hottest team in the league with energy and style. Tampa put up a defensive night after a not so good performance in the Big Apple Sunday night. Warding off 35 shots on goal this shutout Vasilevskiy surpasses Nikolia Kababibulin as the second all time shutout recorded in Lightning history. Vassy is now only 3 shutouts away from surpassing Big Ben Bishop as the all time shutout leader!
