An interesting analysis on odds of a team winning based on world series history. For instance, how likely is a team down 0-2, like the Dodgers are, to come bak and win the series?

hint: it's not likely

Pssst. Google 1986 World Series.

They have slightly less than a one on five chance (19.6%)

Still, around here, we wait until the coffin is nailed shut. We've seen Dracula climb back out too many times.

Out here, in the laid back West, we've already booked our tee times!

NOW we can exhale.

Brian Snitker, Atlanta Braves (17 1st Place votes, 116 Total Points)

Craig Counsell, Milwaukee Brewers (11, 99)

I was pretty shocked that Counsell didn't get it, he definitely deserved it.

Snitker did a fine job. The Braves won 72 games last year, and 90 this year. They didn't have much competition in their division, though. They also lost 6 of their last 10 games in September.

The Brewers missed the playoffs by one game last year. This year, they roared in September and won 9 of their last 10 games, and they caught the Cubs when everyone said that they were done. They had the best record in the National League.

You may have a point about the NL playoffs but it seems like the Dodgers turn into the Tijuana Dodgers when they get to the World Series considering the donkey show they put on when they get there.

"...the Cubs won the 2016 National League Championship Series and 2016 World Series, which ended a 71-year National League pennant drought and a 108-year World Series championship drought, both of which are record droughts in Major League Baseball."

2016 is 28 years since the Dodgers won anything.

The last time the Dodgers won the World Series, Presto was just a malignant idea in the minds of three men from Willowdale. Since then, they've plumbed the depths with the aforementioned abomination, released RTB, Counterparts, Test for Echo, Vapor Trails, and, unfortunately, S&A, before their comeback album.

They haven't released anything, or toured since the Cubbies won it all. Quite a span of geological time in between.

In all of my projections for how this thread would evolve, none of them featured going from Christian Yelich to critiquing Presto..... :o :P

First Nick Adenhart and now Valbuena and Castillo. So sad. RIP from Halo Nation. :rose:

I saw this. Horrible news. I remember Valbuena as a Cub.

Babe Ruth was overrated.

Well, Rivera DID pitch 62 innings more than the Babe.

Ruth had the better WS ERA (0.87 to 0.99), giving up one less earned run in five less innings.
