laughedatbytime
According to the NASCAR on FOX facebook page..."NASCAR is reportedly exploring the removal of jackmen from pit stops in favor of an attached air-jack system" Like or dislike?Like Indy cars? I guess it doesn't really matter as long as its the same for everyone. I wonder if it will help pit times?I didn't see much else about it but I assume it would be like Indy cars. I would think it might take a second off the pit times (at least for four tire stops, and maybe half that for two right sides) and make for fewer mistakes, at least once teams got used to it. The tire changers wouldn't have to wait for the jackman to run around the car.

KenJennings
Bring a race car driver is dangerous. Being a pit crew member is dangerous. Reducing danger is a noble goal, but the primary goal is to play a specific game. I don't want to see the change that much. I don't want to see a skillet within the sport eliminated in the name of safety. At what point do we replace driver controller cars with remote control cars? Changing the game in the name of safety is a big ask. I guess I would ask all the Jackmen in the sport what they want.

I like the idea of the whole team having to execute for the team to be successful. Plus, how many people have been seriously injured or killed working pit road at a NASCAR event? I can't think of one in the recent past. Why try and solve a problem that isn't even really a problem?

Let the pantywaists at Indy car have their air jackoff system. Tire changing is an integral part of the pit stop, which is an integral part of the race. Leave it be. KenJennings
I'm going to be spending some time with Elliott Sadler later this afternoon. He's stopping by my office on his way to Road America, I can't wait to meet him. Looks like rain is forecast for Sunday's Xfinity race, could be a wild one.

He always seemed like a really good guy to me. Glad to hear that's the case. I wonder what his feeling is about getting back to Cup. He's alone of the Busch guys in terms of being a long time Cup driver with a Busch ride, in a competitive car. My guess is that he probably thinks he's in a good place with competitive cars and the ability to compete. I don't think there's much choice of anyone over about 21 getting a competitive Cup ride so he's probably resigned to it either way but you have to believe he's enjoying it.
