  1. Not really. I consider it a good sign when I score "2112" in a flash game, or find that number as the total on a receipt.
  2. I don't have any great sound-equipment, so I probably don't notice whatever problems with the recording that there might be, but if there's to be a remixing, I want to hear the shit out of it I love several of the songs on that album, and if they're to be improved, that's fine with me, as long as the band thinks it needs to happen.
  3. I'm fine with a flood of live albums and DVDs(I haven't seen one that I've disliked), I don't read Neil's blog (I should, though), so the book is fine with me, and it would be even if I did. They're fine. They don't seem like they'd be the kind to continue if they couldn't think of anything. Music is what they do. BTW: A little off-topic, but do ANY bookstores carry Neil's stuff? I've wanted to read Ghost Rider and Cycling in West Africa for a long time, but I can never find a copy. I'll check Barnes and Noble when I'm near one, but I'm thinking that the only way will be to order online.
  4. Geddy sings fine. Hell, he sounds better than he has in a while, IMO. He's older. We just have to deal with that, but it isn't degradation of quality that we're dealing with, only an aging voice. I think he's adapted quite well. And when you factor in that they're playing as good as ever, and still progressing as musicians, there's nothing at all to worry about.
  5. f**k Best Buy. They have terrible customer service, even in person, and their stores smell like BO. Ugh.
  6. It honestly looks pretty damn good. Let's hope they don't screw-up.
  7. The opening sequence of Watchmen with the Comedian getting the living f**k beaten out of him made me shit brix. From that scene onward, I knew what my favorite movie was.
  8. QUOTE (tel @ Dec 22 2010, 11:43 AM) district 9 fourth kind skyline im an alien fanatic but why oh why cant somebody make a decent film on the subject. yes there have been many but not for a long time classic alien films include war of the worlds close encounters the thing fire in the sky alien 1&2 communion Dude, do not EVEN throw District 9 in with those other two, I thought it was brilliant. Maybe my favorite Sci-Fi movie of all time, second perhaps to The Thing. The Forth Kind was at least entertaining. ------- OT: The Mist. All good up until the ending...
  9. If there is even a fridge present in a shot of the next one, I'm out.
  10. One more thing (I laugh randomly thinking about this frequently): I's not retarded, as the title of the video may make it out to be, it's brilliantly edited and one of the funniest things I've ever seen, especially as a Trek fan.
  11. What's this preachiness I keep hearing about? The philosophy is the most important thing about the franchise, and should be taken to heart, being the best model for humanity to follow. It was definitely present in the new movie through the actions of the characters, even if it wasn't full out voiced and explained. It didn't have to be. Now: Yes, Trek is the shit. Old and new alike.
  12. QUOTE (ReRushed @ Dec 2 2010, 11:00 PM) QUOTE (Astromancer @ Dec 2 2010, 11:20 PM) Dude...wtf? The Last Temptation of Christ was brilliant I think it's one of Scorsese's worst films. I think it's a case of critics and fans wanting to be brilliant because of the "controversial" subject matter. That aside, I personally think it's a bad film, poorly directed with hammed up acting. Meh. I saw it without having any knowledge of the director's other works, and without any prior-knowledge-based expectations. All I knew about it was the soundtrack, and even that took a backseat to the film itself, at least for me. I do not understand why it didn't take for so many people, but I really loved it. I cannot explain to you how I see it as brilliant, no exact factors, but I got something out of it, some remarkable feeling, and I "got it", I guess you could say. It had the overall ability to move me and captivate, instead of just walking away thinking "oh, what pretty shots", or "I love that actor, I like watching them be themselves on screen, so the movie was good", I was completely blown away. Although I understand and respect that you were not.
  13. QUOTE (Tom Sawyer @ Nov 17 2010, 04:10 PM) Scorsees, I don't really like any of his films. I abhor him for making the last temptation of Christ, what a total piece of crap! Dude...wtf? The Last Temptation of Christ was brilliant, and Peter Gabriell's soundtrack was jaw-dropping in itself. For me, it's James Cameron. At least modern James Cameron. Avatar was a pile of computer-generated dogshit, perfectly rendered and seamlessly integrated to look like real dogshit. He's lost my faith as a director.
  14. I vote for The Weapon. Something about it just floors me.
  15. The U.S.S. Enterprise from the new movie. It brought sexy back. (love the originals and the D as well, but the new one takes the cake for me). If "Cygnus X-1" and. "Hemispheres were movies, I'd say the Rocinante, although she only flew once that we know of.
  16. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Oct 28 2010, 09:23 PM) I'm doing well in all my classes except algebra. I had a 4 question test today and I'm sure I failed it. For some reason, I just can't understand any type of math. I would do okay in Algebra 2....but sleep is a more demanding mistress than my teacher. Once I get it, I can churn it out all day, but the class is baked in terms of layout. Always in a rush to get to the next thing, massive piles of homework with no due-dates, and no-one in the class to talk to (I had a good friend there, but he moved to Las Vegas. Now THAT's luck). I understand.
  17. I HATE that very few "modern" bands seem to understand what musicianship is.
  18. QUOTE (garbo @ Oct 25 2010, 05:41 PM) I'm not sure I should confess this, but on my walk today I got taken down by a Dachsund. I would say fail....but who is willing to fight back against a dachshund? OT: I got a religious debate started up in Speech class over gay marriage (I was pro, everyone else was against (I live in Texas)). I could have poured some gas on those flames, but my Speech teacher is cool, and I didn't want to put her through managing the situation. They had no way to back up their arguments, while I, however, am in debate. (even if I've only been to one tournament, which I failed at, I'm not a complete redneck N00b like them when it comes to reasonable argument).
  19. "Subdivisions, in the basement bars, in the backs of cars, conform or be cast out" What I heard: "Subdivisions, in the basement bars, in the battle cars, conform or be cast out" Personally, I think what I heard was more interesting, jk.
  20. YES! I too was at Cynthia Woods Pavilion, section 109, seat 28. It was the greatest thing I've ever seen or been to, period. When 20000 or so people sing along with all of Moving Pictures in its entirety, there is something special going on. And everyone going "hey" between riffs during 2112 was awesome as well. They sounded freaking perfect, and the new tracks are 1000 times more awesome live! I didn't expect the pyrotechnics, but they were a great addition. I wonder how the Octoberfest pukes next door felt?
  21. QUOTE (Mara @ Jul 15 2010, 09:51 PM) QUOTE (Astromancer @ Jul 15 2010, 10:16 PM) Why did I kill a morning reading every response to this thread? Huh. Why not just remove the genes responsible for bodily hair growth, or fill your pores with hyper-fine resin to prevent the need to rip hot wax off of your skin? Astro - I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess you're a guy? (Apologies if I am wrong - I didn't check the profile). Most guys I know prefer women who remove at least the leg and armpit hair, sometimes more. Are you one of those who doesn't give a toss if your GF or wife doesn't bother? If so, you are indeed a rare species. Yup, I'm a dude, although still in high school, and yet to have a GF. Any kind of cosmetic self-alteration that's not a health or safety issue seems trivial considering that the means to preform said alterations did not exist until recent history. I doubt that much hair control went on in ancient cultures like Greece or Feudal Japan, but there are still instances of people being known as beautiful. Sometime in the future it may be normal to bleach all pigmentation out of one's skin, or permanently stretch one's retinas to cover the entire surface of the whites. Whatever float's a time period's boat.
