  1. QUOTE (wilb1972 @ Jun 25 2012, 05:47 PM) A lot of SnA (musically speaking) reminds me of MFH. Only MFH is a far superior product. Tru dat! I'll take MFH over S&A any day of the week, (except for the first moments of Far Cry)
  2. QUOTE (briremo @ Jun 24 2012, 06:23 PM) The watchmaker is time itself. It is ever-present. It guides our decisions. It never relents. Time loves us all to death Very interesting.

More in interviews and private settings than out in public. I think he reins it in when he knows people might mind, but lets it fly when he knows people won't care. He lets a few slip in the documentary, and more in the articles for the magazine that came with the CA fan pack (as a recent example). Exactly. Although, I have read interviews with him where I think that F**K might be his favorite word! In the documentary, he referred to Neil as a "f***ing monster" when he was playing. And also from the stage at the Gorge at the end of the Time Machine tour. Indeed...I was there. It was a bit surprising. I know Geddy says "f**K" quite often, but I had never really heard him curse while on stage. I needed some alone time and a cigarette after wards! Ha Ha!!! I hope we get to meet up at a show this tour, we are kindred spirits! I've never heard of him cursing on stage either, I wasn't at that show, but sure did hear about it.... you were at the Vegas show with your son right? I think I remember you.

  6. QUOTE (Gedneil Alpeart @ Jun 5 2012, 06:00 PM) QUOTE (Flying Finn @ Jun 5 2012, 05:52 PM) I don't know if the over compression is the problem. I think Alex uses too much distortion and there may be too much overdubbing. Well and sometimes I really don't hear what Geddy sings. I really miss the drum mixing they used in 70s and early 80s. I liked how the drums were loud and crystal clear. Now you don't hear them that clearly. But I'm still waiting the Fanpack to arrive and these are only minor complaints. The album sounds mostly great. I agree on the more crystal drum sounds of 70s and 80s.....miss that. If only drums would always sound like they do on MP.. what a perfect world that would be.. the drums on that album are perfection.
  7. QUOTE (FountainOfSyrinx @ Jun 4 2012, 12:32 PM) "I can't sing back to back days anymore" Interesting. That stood out to me too, he flat out admits he needs a day off between shows. Good for him.

Given the looks on their faces, they may be so high that they have to clutch each other to remain standing.. wouldn't let it worry ya. just a thought.
  9. QUOTE (Gilbertk @ May 21 2012, 02:53 PM) Thanks guys! I'm really excited for this now! But my girlfriend is about 5 and a half feet tall.. will her whole experience be ruined? Tell your girlfriend to get a pair of Dansko shoes. It will be fall so she can wear them with jeans. They are very comfy and make you almost two inches taller. I have a pair I wear to almost all my concerts, I'm about 5'6" and always get floor seats. they are a little pricey, but worth every penny.

  11. I scored an excellent Van Halen ticket this way, the morning of the show Ticketmaster had tickets for sale that were not there the day before. I scored a single third row for Rush in Vegas last year about a month before the show. Don't know where that ticket was the day before when I was looking and and it was the only one available in that section at that time. Go figure.
  12. QUOTE (ioc @ May 22 2012, 03:58 PM) QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ May 22 2012, 03:50 PM) QUOTE (ioc @ May 22 2012, 01:31 PM) So to be clear: all these [potential] awesome seats were scored through the promoter website? (livenation/ticketmaster) For concerts in my experiences, yes. Some venues also have box office sales day of, and some of those are venue-driven, some TicketMaster driven. But, I have bought good "day of" seats to sporting events at StubHub, and know a friend who has gotten good "day of" seats through StubHub for concerts. And since it was brought up, as others have mentioned, this is certainly not a guaranteed way to get good seats. The times I have gotten lucky, I got squat in the presales, and bought my "backup" lawn or nosebleed seats. Once I scored the new ones, I dumped the others to a buyer at the venue. (Actually, for one Rush show several years ago, I had seats around Row 20 on the floor. I bought a "day of" ticket on row 5 at the venue box office. About 20 minutes before show time, I walked up to the nosebleeds. I found a young guy in a Rush T-shirt sitting by himself. I asked him if he was by himself, and when he said "yes," I just gave him my row 20 seat. It was worth the cost of that ticket to see his face light up. After about 3 "Are you serious?!" he finally got out of his seat to head for his upgraded seat on the floor.) Class act.
  13. Welcome Ladies! You have found the right place if you have an obsession with Ged!! No shame here, actually we're kind of shameless about it You've got pages and pages of Ged pics in the Geddy is Hot thread!
  14. QUOTE (Snaked @ May 18 2012, 06:06 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ May 18 2012, 07:00 PM) Wait till you see it on the day of the first Show! I wont be able too.. I'll be in the arena Ditto! Opening Night!! Can't wait!
  15. I love it, took a few listens to figure it out but give it time. Kayla is my least favorite; like Fool in my Heart very much. So far, second favorite album this year.
  16. QUOTE (nobodys hero @ May 14 2012, 08:59 AM) I travel with someone who is visually impaired due to diabetes. He can still see but it has to be up close and then it's not as dialed in as you and I would see a face, a hand playing a guitar etc. I would be really sad if he chose not to go to a show because he could only see a little. I know for a fact these seats are claimed by those who don't need them as I am handi-capped and it's pretty sad to see folks who got the seats and there is nothing wrong with them. Now I know you cannot see every illness someone has, but I'm nosy enough to ask those around me their ailment and the biggest reply I get (especially at Red Rocks) is nothing wrong, I know I can get a good seat this way! This pisses me off for the real ADA people who are in row 70 (the last row at this venue) while able bodied people are in row 1&2. Even if you are 10 rows back and you are healthy, you are in a much better position than those in the first few rows who would gladly trade you their seat for your health! BRAVO!!
  17. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ May 16 2012, 01:36 PM) QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ May 16 2012, 02:32 PM) QUOTE (Khan @ May 16 2012, 12:12 PM) The Who-Cincinnati....that's why. Bingo. The Who tragedy started the end of general admission, the no-smoking rules, no open flames/ bic lighters, etc. Hmm...just looked that up. I had no idea...had never heard of this. Very sad. That's why reserved seating is very important. I for one, have no desire to be in General Admission personally. I remember when that happened, it truly was a tragic event. I remember my mom being horrified because my brother was going to GA concerts.. he was in college and she almost stopped him from going to shows. But then GA seating disappeared, for good reason. I don't care for it myself but I'm a chick with not a lot of height. I like my little square seat area, I paid for this little piece of real estate for the next three hours, you keep out of it or my elbows will tell you about it.

If you don't hear how brilliant, soulful and unique Eddie's rhythm playing is, you are a complete failure. Seriously, any real musician or ardent music listener knows the real magic isn't mainly in his leads--its his freakin' rhythm and song writing abilities. Eddie sux, his kid sux, the "new album" is a joke and they're living off the past. Van halen has been reduced to entertainers I would expect to see perform at a low-grade retirement home luncheon at best... Wow, didn't expect such a violent reaction to my statement, followed by another in the complete opposite direction. I don't care for EVH, don't think he sucks, just don't care for VH in general. Although I don't degrade others for their opinions, it's well documented that I don't care for him. You are free to believe he is a genius. I am free to believe that he is is not. That being said, this is the first VH album that I've ever voluntarily purchased and listened to more than once and I like it very much. Fair enough. Obviously, I don't want anyone to 'kill eachother', but it just burns me when people dismiss EVH's greatness, followed usually by some ignorant statment about him being a one-trick-pony with the finger tapping. Is he as technically brilliant as Paul Gilbert or Yngwie Malmsteen...no. But he plays the f**k out of the rhythm and is instantly identifiable on the first few chords. BTW, if ANKOT is the first VH album you own, you need to check out VH1 and then maybe Fair Warning. Yeah, got the VH lecture this weekend from my older brother. Since I don't love VH I believe he thinks he failed in my musical education. Maybe someday I'll delve into their catalog and I'll love it, who knows.

  20. QUOTE (MMCXII @ May 11 2012, 03:05 PM) just wondering what to expect.. I only bought the ticket because I was offered a deal and I haven't even heard the album, but now I'm getting pumped about the show.. they were my favorite band back in the early 80's.. I'm assuming there's none of the Sammy material?? lol I love the new album. I saw them here in Pittsburgh a while back, it was a very good show. Dave was having a bit of voice problems, but he was a trooper and still put on a good show. Eddie was exceptional which is a lot coming from me as I'm in the "EVH is overrated camp" Hope it's a good show for ya.

But this Muslim dude from the Toledo show just does not look like he fit in . At least it appears he was enjoying the show! at approximately 0:40: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9BGClR0YaI Share your stories! This guy goes to multiple Rush shows ever tour because i'm pretty sure i've seen him at a few before. He's a big fan and as said previously a nice guy. He's a Doctor I believe. I think he's even had a mention in one of Neil's books too.
  24. QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Apr 24 2012, 09:53 PM) I and Mr. 1 of the 7 will be there! We've even scrapped the Philly show so we can attend the whole con - it'll be our first! No Philly? Sorry for that but glad we'll get to meet in Toronto (meet again that is, since we'll meet in Manchester)
  25. 18th Row on the floor, Ged's side. I've also got an extra about 22nd row on Alex's side. That was a stressful experience. I hate that moment where you're not sure to take them or throw them back. I had one time out before I could pay for it and I had one just disappear from my cart. Where's the meet up?? Where are people staying??
