  1. It's definitely Big Money. Man, I would love to have access to those isolated tracks...
  2. Countdown was my hook song too. I was a big space nut as a kid, and when they played it with the shuttle video at my first show in '83 it was all over for me. I mean, what kind of band writes songs about space shuttles? An AWESOME one!!
  3. And the millions of fans in the measly four show largest fanbase completely sold out months in advance northeast sit with oodles of unspent rush cash in their pockets. Always that 401k to fund instead! Or Pearl Jam! . Makes no sense, unless Neil demanded more shows out in the open country for his riding pleasure. They could have at least hit up Mohegan Sun.
  4. And how it's going to be... Replying to O_Baterista: Seriously though, I get it, especially if you are newer to Rush (forgive me if I am making the assumption based on it being your first show coming up). I was introduced to Rush with Moving Pictures/Signals (at the age of 14), so that was my starting/reference point. Initially I was much more attuned to those albums and those that followed. It took me a few years to discover the back catalog and even more years after that to really appreciate it. As we all know Rush is a band that demands your time and attention; the songs open themselves up over time and rewards those who are patient. And you have to think of 2112 for what it was when it came out in 1976. At that time it was different, heavy and novel. Today there are other genres of music that owe themselves in part to the direction 2112 set when it came out.
  5. AFAIAC Geddy can be lazy. He's earned it! Better to focus on singing and playing bass.
  6. I think part of the love for CA is that they could put out an album that was relatively fresh given their long careers. Many bands would be content to put out retread of earlier material; for me the surprise was they they were still pushing themselves in their late 50's. I listened to it a lot when it came out (as I did SnA) but now both albums have been rotated near the back of my collection. For me Halo Effect and BU2B2 were tracks I always skipped over. Bleh. Wish Them Well is atypical Rush but I do like it. What I really REALLY want to see is a new album reunited with Broon as producer. Once more for old times' sake.
  7. I keep going back to Power Windows. I know it was played to death on the CA tour but the songs were very well crafted, the lyrics were among Neil's best IMO and great basslines and solos.
  8. In Boston Neil dropped a drumstick and it fell forward onto the stage. Alex picked it up and banged it against his guitar for about 20 seconds in lieu of strumming the chords. Laughs were had all around. In Newark, Alex also seemed fun and playful. I don't see this as much of an issue. That was great. It happened a second time but he only played for a second or two (end of the song, I don't recall exactly which one). I suspect there was some frustration and increased focus from Alex early in the tour. Now that he's found his groove he definitely appears to be enjoying himself much more.
  9. Agreed. They've given us so much for decades, no reason to be greedy/sticklers now.
  10. Absolutely spot on with the drums. Man, the old setup just has so much more punch, it was electric. Emotionally for me the only show that topped it was their return in 2002 in Hartford. Last night the crowd was jacked, the band was tight and largely mistake free, and the boys really seemed to be enjoying themselves. Even Neil.
  11. They need to bring Terry in for one more album. I'd love to see what they would put out after a 30+ year separation.
  12. And how many of those hours did you actually spend working vs surfing the net, having non work related discussions with co workers, daydreaming, etc.? Seeing as I almost always give them more than 40 hours every week, and being an exempt employee I don't get paid for my "extra" time, we're probably about even. And let's not talk about time I put in on the weekend when the job demands it.
  13. That is so awesome. My son is 4 and obviously too young to go to a show and I'm a little sad he will probably never get to see them live. But I did promise to call him when Subdivisions came on last night so he could listen in. It's all he talked about when he woke up this morning :sundog: It was great seeing so many kids at the show last night!
  14. LOVE the ED solo - one of Alex's finest IMHO. HYF is underrated. Yes, lush and jazzy but that's what I like about Rush - every album is different and reflects who they are and their interests at that point in time. They are not afraid to move in different directions.
  15. Interesting. Recently Geddy had mentioned he and his wife had spent several weeks in New Zealand bird watching. OTOH, it's a little hard to believe. How much would it cost to send all that equipment overseas? And travelling between each of the countries would require more ocean shipping. I don't see the cost benefit, unless they pull off some sort of Iron Maiden Flight 666 deal. So, North American bands never play in Australia or New Zealand because of this? lol I didn't say that. It's just expensive, and I can't see doing it for just a few shows for it to be financially worthwhile. But what do I know...
  16. It is a risk, definitely. I'll find out later today what the result is.....package was just delivered to my mailbox according to tracking! Still hoping for the best! Oh well.....failure. Venue must have sent it back. No signatures on the LP and my note was enclosed. May try again with another venue. For anyone that has had success, did the band return your note you sent them or just the signed item? I think I will find something else to send. Bummer, I was going to have them sign it for my 4 year old. His favorite song is Subdivisions, and he loves yelling out "backs of cars" during the chorus.
  17. Not as good as Brad Delp though.
  18. I sent a 2112 LP to Detroit. It arrived Friday at Palace of Auburn Hills front desk/reception, so keeping fingers crossed that it makes its way to the band. Sent a silver sharpie along since that album is mainly black. Been meaning to do this during the last few tours but never got around to it. Hoping for the best! That's weird... ...I got a notice that they divert couldn't be made and will be sent back. :( I was planning on sending my 2112 LP and a silver sharpie but now I am not so sure that's a good idea. Maybe the band can't be bothered to switch up sharpies?
  19. Yeah, let's blame Geddy's bass malfunction in Headlong, Alex's wrong opening chord in DEW, Dirk's keyboard flub to open Subdivisions, and the cringe inducing guitar solo on Barchetta on sound quality. You can call me "nitpicky", but I prefer discriminating listener. Helps me avoid being labelled a total fanboi. ;) The thing is we are used to their perfection. We are not accustomed to Rush making mistakes. We're not complaining - its more concern than anything else - like what the heck is going on and what is wrong? I Here's to Friday! :dweez: :dweez: :dweez: I'm certain that being there is better than watching via periscope feed or a bootleg video after the fact.   I'm surprised by flubs because this is a show that is being filmed for a DVD. I don't want them to have overdub. As Yoda would "Overdubbing leads to Exit Stage Left and Exit stage left leads to the Darkside" of audio recordings in my opinion" :fury: Geddy mentioned a couple of years back he is wound tighter when they are filming (I think he said something like "more pucker factor") so I am not surprised at all there were more flubs.
  20. Interesting. Recently Geddy had mentioned he and his wife had spent several weeks in New Zealand bird watching. OTOH, it's a little hard to believe. Neil a phony??

No, since he doesn't do interviews.I'm sure he made an exception for Rolling Stone.

    Neil a phony??

No, he finally grew up. . Exactly. Randian politics are for middle class adolescent teenagers. Not men. "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs."
