  1. I recall reading something similar. I seem to remember Terry saying he absolutely hated the "he's got a force field and flexible plan" part. He felt the music in that section totally sucked the energy out of the song. I think Terry was absolutely right about that lol. That's the point I usually move on from the song. He got a raw deal with his somewhat unceremonious departure from the band but I can't blame a band like rush for wanting to take on new challenges and trying to evolve. But how I miss the sweet crisp sound and production he obtained on Permanent waves and Moving Pictures. They were a great team. Every time I hear the horrible quality on albums like presto, vapor trails, or clockwork angels I think about what terry brown may have done with it. I agree it's reasonable they wanted to work with others, but at some point, especially when they were having difficulty finding their way away from the tinny and synth sound in the early 90s, they should have brought Terry back.
  2. "Ohhh you knoOOOOw that we'll be theeeeeeere..." David Foster jokingly asked him "Do you think you can put a little more feeling into it?". My quote wasn't exactly what was said but I was going on memory from over 30 years ago. You can see the actual footage if you watch this. Nice comments around the 2-minute mark where Ged talks about how fortunate we are in North America. That was a fun watch. Thanks for the link! Yeah, we tend to feel sorry for ourselves for little trivial things here in North America. Some more fortunate than others
  3. Agreed. However, recently watched a live band cover bu2b, and it rawked.

  5. I was nervous goin in based on the you tube clips. Thought the singers falsetto kept popping out of his fake Geddy falsetto and briefly revealed his real voice. But live, they sounded great, played great, and even had a decent Rush themed light and video show. Considering this was their first show... impressive. They put alot of thought and effort into the show Those in the ny area, they are playing the city in Nov. Worth it.
  6. Not this guy?? "Jennings once more faced controversy when on May 31, 2017 he tweeted a joke involving Barron Trump"
  7. "Let the truth of love be lighted Let the love of truth shine clear Sensibility Armed with sense and liberty With the Heart and Mind united In a single perfect sphere"

  9. What's an example of "fast casual"? Biting a head of lettuce that's grabbed from the fridge? :P Really, what is it? Places like Chipotle, Panera, Boston Market, which serve restaurant-style cooked food, but with a limited menu. Basically, fresh ingredients but walk-up ordering. Ah ok. None of those restaurants out here. I haven't had any of those except Boston Market...and that was well over 20 years ago. I think I went when it was still called Boston Chicken. A lot of those style restaurants are big out here...though with the local dishes served instead Those are all good examples. Also some good fast casual burger places with decent quality here in north east....shake shack, five guys, smashburger... .
  10. There was no option for fast casual...a little healthier than "fast food." Gets my vote alot.
  11. I'll let that one slide. Their intentions were good but it's not a song they play all the time so LaBrie forgetting the lyrics isn't that big of a deal to me. Heart was in the right place. Yeah I get that. But you could also say that perhaps they were jumpin on the tribute bandwagon. I could see DT perhaps not diggin Soundgarden style music. Every other tribute I've seen seems much more heartfelt and personel. Well the fact they forgot the words makes me think this could be the case. It might have been an awkward situation where you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. Why not have the lyrics in front of you? Someone like Labrie, who's no rookie, should know better. It just comes across as amateur hour. It definitely looks bad on them. Maybe alot of people are very upset Chris is suddenly gone and are just expressing grief? I am seeing Tool soon, am a big Chris Cornell fan, and hoping against hope the band keeps any tributes to before they hit the stage.
  12. The Cornell family and the press had better dig into this. It could help get such nasty drugs off the market. I'm with you 100%. I see zero logic in prescribing such drugs for people. The whole point of health care and medicine is to help the person get BETTER. Prescribing drugs that can make someone feel self-destructive and/or suicidal is NOT helping the person get better. Hey doc, my knee itches, why don't you prescribe for me nuclear waste material which will make my itch better Forget the side effects, that I get to listen to endlessly during football games, costing Americans five billion in wasted advertising dollars each year Fvck the american healthcare system for killing Chris.
  13. This quote in particular is making me kind of choked up :( That's what makes this hard to understand for me. Because everything on the surface, his twitter page, the statement above, made everything look...fine. I'm sure every person that attended the show last night is in complete shock as well. It seems there may have been some type of trigger or deep, dark things happening under the surface. Perhaps there may be more information forthcoming that would shed more light on his mindset. Just speculation, but his wife tried calling him pretty soon after the show, so she may have felt she needed to keep tabs on him a bit. It doesn't seem a Soundgarden 'band conflict' would have affected him like this, sense they broke up before and Chris is a solo artist as well. So he could easily say F the band, I'll do my own thing again. I'm just speculating out loud trying to make sense of this. I think in a very logical 'cause and effect' fashion, so that very well may not apply to mental illness. It makes no sense he would do this right after a show in the middle of a tour...involving his band and fans. Why get the band back together after a nearly two year break? Why work on a new album if you don't have a will to live? Even though I could get depressed, I have no idea what depression is.
  14. This makes it too brutal...his final setlist... Ugly Truth Hunted Down Non-State Actor Searching With My Good Eye Closed @Tape Spoonman Outshined Kickstand Black Hole Sun By Crooked Steps The Day I Tried to Live My Wave Been Away Too Long Fell on Black Days Mailman A Thousand Days Before Burden in My Hand Blow Up the Outside World Jesus Christ Pose Rusty Cage Slaves & Bulldozers [w/ "In My Time of Dying" refrain] @Info[Final show with their singer Chris Cornell before he passed away on the 17th of May 2017.]
  15. Chris' words for Andrew, now for him. One of the most powerful and memorable show openers I have seen, only performed 8 times ever by TotD, Please, mother of mercy Take me from this place and the long winded curses I keep here in my head Words never listen and teachers, oh, they never learn but I'm warm from the candle though I feel too cold to burn He came from an island and he died from the street and he hurt so bad like a soul breaking but he never said nothing to me So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven... So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven... New, like a baby Lost, like a prayer The sky was your playground but the cold ground was your bed I said poor stargazer She's got no tears in her eyes but smooth like a whisper She knows that love heals all wounds with time Now it seems like too much love is never enough Yeah, you better seek out another road 'cause this one has ended abrupt So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven... So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven... I never wanted to write these words down for you with the pages of phrases of all the things we'll never do So I blow out the candle and I put you to bed Since you can't say to me now how the dogs broke your bone there's just one thing left to be said So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven... So say hello to heaven, heaven, heaven...
  16. He was incredible last fall with Temple of the Dog Heartbroken, but reminiscing he gave us one chance to enjoy that band live before he died.
  17. Wanna increase your post count? Simple, post on SOCN as a progressive. You will get ambushed from so many angles, if you respond to all you'll easily get to a million posts. A million, easy.
  18. The music of Rush will still be carried over in the next projects of Alex and Geddy. We will hear the spirit of Rush in their songs, I am sure even though Neil is not on board. Rush touring is done, especially of this magnitude. Had hoped Neil would have interest in another album. Nope. Thought for sure Ged n Al would record some music and play some dates. But after two years of no mention of new music, I'm thinking we're much more likely to see a new Tool album within 10,000 days than Ged n Al record and tour .
