The reason why Rush will come to Europe as well
Hemispheres4Echo replied to YYZumbi's topic in On The Lighted Stage
I'd go and see that. Imagine Geddy playing 2 or 3 nights at the Hammersmith Apollo! Not sure what the climate is like over there, but I don't think Geddy solo could sell out 2-3 nights in a comparable size room here in the states. Not on his first tour at least. You may be right. Maybe it is a little too optimistic to expect Geddy to sell out multiple dates at the same venue on his first solo tour, but it would be very cool to see Geddy perform at a venue such as the Hammersmith Apollo. -

Am I the only one that's NOT totally against this idea?

You, good sir, are correct. But yes, I hope Geddy does some solo work. Even better? Geddy doing a run of solo club gigs. OMG, I almost drooled thinking of that. Checking out Geddy at a Sunset Strip venue....some stripped down acoustic Rush covers? GIMME. :) It would be cool if Geddy did solo gigs at Massey Hall, Toronto, Beacon Theatre, New York or the Whiskey a-go go, LA. -
possible set list switching (obvious spoilers)

I think they will play Big Money in June since that song was listed in the tour book. I also keep my fingers crossed for the band to play the title track from Test for Echo -

I am pretty sure Geddy WILL go solo after R40 -
I keep my fingers crossed for the band to rotate One Little Victory/How it is with Test for Echo (song) and/or Driven sometime during the tour.

I can as well. If he did, it would be nice if he went on a solo tour playing clubs in cities such as Toronto, Los Angeles and New York. I'd seriously be willing to go see such a tour in such cities if it happened. As a matter of fact if Rush had never reunited i think we'd have a lot of Geddy albums by now. I've always had that feeling. Mick I think so as well. -

Tourbook r40 dissapointed spoliers possible...

I believe Geddy enjoys doing this tour quite a lot, while I think it's different when it comes to Alex and Neil. Neil is definitely retiring after the R40 Los Angeles show, and to be honest I think Alex also is. -

I think it sounds like a cool idea, but don't think it would actually happen. I'd like to see Geddy record a new solo album sometime in the coming years and maybe do a solo club tour or something like that, in fact I think we WILL see a solo album from Geddy sometime in the future since he seems to want to continue play/write/record music for many years to come while Neil and Alex may be thinking of retiring after the last R40 show in Los Angeles. Neil will definitely retire after R40 and I'm pretty sure Alex also will. -

Even though Rush will only play North America on the R40 tour, they will give their fans outside North America a sovuenir from the tour in the shape of a professionally shot dvd/blu-ray for us to enjoy for eternity as they have done with all their previous tours since their come back with Vapor Trails. Personally I'm very thankful that they have recorded a show every tour since Vapor Trails, as the only time I've got to see them in person was the Clockwork Angels Tour. a pro shot video that is badly mixed, like Rush In Rio DVD and Clockwork Angels Tour video. Hopefully they will hire David Bottrill to mix/produce the DVD. Bottrill is the guy who produced the remixed version of the Vapor Trails album and the Test for Echo footage on the R40 box set.

I agree. Systematic Chaos has the song which in my opinion is THE worst DT song: The Dark Eternal Night. I can't stand the song, it is just so boring. The attitude of the song is like "Oh my god, we're rocking so hard it's f***ing unbeliveable" That song is in my opinion, pure garbage! well that's portnoy influence. i know it seems like i pick on the guy.....but it's true. if you watch the making of SC. he was shoving this direction down their throats. James Labrie and John Myung both looked like they wanted to be anywhere but that studio. "This is what DT NEEDS BRO!!!!!!" Portnoy sucks. Mick Word! I think it is very good that they haven't continued writing songs a la Dark Eternal Night since A Dramtic turn of Events and instead returned to writing melodic prog metal, just like it should be. I hope they continue doing so on the new album which they are currently recording.
