  1. A Christmas Carol, again and again and again. FXX did a marathon showing of the classic 1951 version with Alistair Sim as Scrooge.
  2. A not so subtle ripoff of Blind Lemon Jefferson's Black Snake Moan.
  3. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Festivus for the rest of us.
  4. Jaco is da man! Best intro: The multiple guitar sonatas prior to live versions of Cliffs of Dover-pick 'em.
  5. Law and Order: Special Victims Unit: Gripping drama. Aw, hell, who am I fooling? I'm a horndog for Mariska Hargitay.
  6. That's awful, but you are fortunate to have caught it. If he was a certified tech, this doesn't inspire confidence in them on my end. I always check the dipsticks soon after service. About 1/3 of the time it's overfilled. When you consider they charge a flat fee, their just wasting their own money by giving me more fluid than I need. Duhhhh. It's just a local garage that I used for a while. Only a mile from my house so they were convenient. Problem is they've started to gouge me on services. Think I'll move on. Finding a car mechanic/garage that is good and honest is tough. I had to switch when the shop I was going to just plain shut down. Granted both head mechanics were older than dirt, but they did what was needed and didn't add on things to pad the bill. You just need to research first. Btdt with the GM transmisson fails, and Karen played the Mopar ignition system shuffle. But nothing beat the Ford Explorer tire failure problems where it was inferred the vehicle was structurally unsound when it was not.
  7. I thought I would be driving around, shopping and lunching, but started getting this repetitive thumping noise in the car while driving. Checked my tires and didn't see anything, but btdt pulling a chunk of metal out of a tire sidewall once before. Tread on this set of tires is getting shady af, so I called my car service/tire people, taking car tomorrow a.m. for a full set. Probably drop a G note after taxes and fees, but it needs to be.
  8. Low 70's overcast, occasional rain. Feels cool outside, but I'm in T-shirt sleeves and jeans. Chili mac weather.
  9. If This Bass Could Only Talk, outstanding. Also: Al DiMeola- Casino, Scenario, and Kiss My Axe. Shadowfax-Too Far to Whisper, The Dreams of Children Jean-Luc Ponty-anything If you can find it, The Rites of Strings CD-Clarke, DiMeola, & Ponty acoustic. Or the Clarke, Di Meola, & Ponty Live at Montreux DVD.
  10. If I want coffee like 1850, I'll ditch my Mr. Coffee and get a metal stovetop percolator and some Maxwell House. Another example of insulting the consumer's intelligence. For me, it's Dean Winters and the Allstate Mayhem commercials. Those are annoying af.
  11. Hiromi (Uehara/The Trio Project)-Move Live in Toronto-King Crimson Aside from those, I have to paraphrase @invisible airwave , the decade inhaled giant donkey gonads.
  12. While goofing off online, and in the spirit of the holiday season I was directed to: https://www.redriderleglamps.com The online store for the "A Christmas Story House" located on the West side of Cleveland. Lots of fun stuff available: Christmas ornaments, T-shirts, figurines, "Oh, Fudge", and of course, leg lamps. But then came the real screamer: I was dying :LMAO: ! Adult sized reproductions of Aunt Clara's "pink nightmare" bunny pajamas and slippers.
  13. A Christmas Carol (1999). Patrick Stewart makes a decent Scrooge; Joel Grey as Christmas Past, not so much. Overall a ways to go beat Alastair Sim & Co. (1951). OTOH, while I was out earlier today Karen watched the Will Smith remake of Alladin, which she had been on hold for. Called it "the biggest PoS Disney has ever produced, they should be ashamed" but wants an Oscar given for "Best Performance by a Flying Carpet in a Motion Picture." :laughing guy:
  14. Beato is effing amazing, but this is da best!
  15. I guess some folks never heard of "the great crepitation contest."
  16. Pete Frates was the guy who started the Ice Bucket Challenge, according to Wikipedia... DOH! Boy, has my brain on the Fritz today. Don't know how Tom got ino the mix. Thanks.
  17. Tom Frates is no longer with us. Frates, who inspired The Ice Bucket Challenge lost his battle with ALS. RIP, Tom.
  18. I heard the live version from DS ages before picking up PeW, and thought it was a smash. Like them both but still prefer the DS version. Never saw them play it live, unfortunately. I could easily see a hardcore acoustic version of the song, àla Michael Hedges (RIP).
  19. Not only was that good, he made it look effortless. Bravo!
