  2. Exit the Super Bowl, today's Tom Brady, he gets high on you and the energy you trade, right on to the friction of the game.
  3. You know you're a Rush fan when your cat's name is Kiddy Lee.
  4. Vapor Trails is awesome. By far the heaviest album in their discography. I don't think the mastering/mixing on VT is THAT bad. Still very listenable, to me. A remaster would be cool, though. I'd buy it and compare.
  5. Budweiser ... Real men of genius Reeeal men of geeeniuuuuss Mr. dislexic, sign-bearing football fan!
  6. The worst part is the S and T sheets are stapled together and that's really how they think it's spelled.
  7. It'll be a dud just like the year 2000. But if the world does end, at least we'll witness it.
  8. What Neil really went all out and Faithless was, "I don't have faith in God. I don't believe in Jeeeesus" (Just imagine Geddy singing that and how pissed people would be) To answer your question, I think he'd be talking about what he does in the other 95% of Rush songs that have nothing to do with atheism. Edit: Probably more like 98%
  9. QUOTE (Mika @ Feb 5 2012, 07:03 AM)It's really interesting to hear what everyone has to say about the 'Rushiest' album! I'm surprised that the synth-era albums are not mentioned more - I kinda thought that would be a main Rush sound. Maybe that's just the era I was most exposed to by happenstance. Circumstances, eh? I'm happy that the 'Rush sound' is interpreted differently by everyone. I think that says something about a band, being able to connect differently with so many people. Well, that's getting a little deeper now than I intended.... Now, how about physical style? What's the band 'look' you most connect Rush to? Flowing kimonos? Jeans 'n' tees? Eighties neon and pastel suits? A little embarrassingly to say, for me it's the kimonos. To me, the Rush look has got to be how they looked on the A Show of Hands dvd. That was the first Rush material I owned and I've probably seen it over 100 times. Either that or their look on the Exit Stage Left dvd with Lifeson in his red jacket and Lee with his red tie. And Peart with his tucked-in soccer dad polo
  10. I think the Rushiest sounding albums are Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures. Every album they've made is Rushy in its own way though. For Rushiest songs, I'd say Tom Sawyer and Free Will.
  11. My friend burned me In Absentia today. I'm listening to PT right now for the first time and I dig em so far. I would recommend Systematic Chaos for Dream Theater. In the Presence of Enemies is awesome and it's a just great album all the way through.
  12. Not a wishlist. I'm realistically trying to predict the set list. Here it goes! 13. I discovered that these four songs go pretty well together: Hemispheres Circumstances The Trees La Villa Strangiato Can't figure out why.

  15. QUOTE (trenken @ Jan 30 2012, 01:51 PM)QUOTE (CruisingInPrimetime @ Jan 30 2012, 01:17 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jan 30 2012, 11:35 AM) The bass playing is fine, although the tone sucks. Of course easily fixable. Dont like the singing though. You dont have any vibrato at all which Geddy is great at, or was anyway. And the notes without vibrato arent very smooth and a bit too dramatic sometimes so its pretty rough around the edges. Not awful, but not great either. Just trying to help. The only way to get better is to know what can be better, and the singing definitely needs work. Keep practicing, develop that vibrato and keep it subtle, you dont want to sound like some broadway singer with some crazy over the top vibrato. Thanks. I sang this cover in my Geddy voice, which is no doubt pitchy, and does need some work. I also do a version where I use my diaphragm and vibrato. It's more on pitch and probably sounds better. (you can be the judge, I'll be posting a redo of VS in a few days) I'll use that voice next time. I almost did, but I thought I'd see what people thought of my Ged voice first. I've seen the Jake Moon cover. Very talented guy! Thanks for the Feedback! It's usually not good to try and sound like him. It almost always ends up sounding weird and overly dramatic. Id would rather just hear you do it your own way, that's much more interesting to me. It would sound less forced and sound more impressive if you did it in a way you're more comfortable with, using your natural style of singing, which isnt the same as Geddy's. Yeah, it is more interesting, isn't it? It kind of puts the song to the test. Would I still like this song if it wasn't by Rush? Jake Moon and Subdivisions is a good example. Show that to someone who claims to hate Rush, maybe they'd like it. I don't like hearing people try to sing like Geddy either. It's never Geddy. Although that would be awesome if there was someone who could sing exactly like Geddy. My guess will be Geddy's voice will give out before his hands. Imagine if they got a replacement who could sing everything spot-on. Maybe I should keep practicing my Geddy voice.
  16. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Jan 30 2012, 01:37 PM) QUOTE (ghostworks @ Jan 30 2012, 12:55 PM) ^ well, I'm making a lot of assumptions here - that: 1. there was no way CA would've known his sets were 'perfect' (as he claimed) at that minute level of detail without checking first - just not believable 2. if he was asked to take pics of his 'perfect' sets, he'd come up with some lame excuse why he wouldn't be able to now - at this point, we can only take him at his word until he posts his pics... cant wait to see them, CA! It's taking so long because the pics are still being photo-shopped

  18. I voted Natural Science because of the monster drum fills and then the waves fading out.
