  1. Who had Matt Stone on their next drummer for Rush after Neil bingo card?

  3. It's not a bad little rocker, with a very cynical lyric. I'm not sold on Rupert's vocals but even they are a nice deviation from the Rush norm. It should never EVER have been spliced with Xanadu live though! I've envisioned it over the years as the backing track to sports highlights from favorite players. Agreed.
  4. I've recently been watching the Presto tour on YT live from Auburn Hills, Michigan. I remember being annoyed at the time how different they sounded thanks to the Roland synths and Signature guitars, but now I love it as a change of pace. I love watching Neil pound that drum set. I am also a real weirdo that really enjoys Superconductor.
  5. The Time Machine and CA tours run fairly regularly on the cable/satellite music stations, like MTV Live. Why has R40 not made an appearance yet? Any idea?
  6. I wouldn't go so far as to say it was a turn off for me, but I don't think they were portrayed as favorably as say they were in the doc. I do recall reading somewhere in the article that he was a big fan. I just think he tried to put some shocking stuff in there to create a buzz. Neil's political views and Alex's pot smoking were slightly surprising to me. I am imagine they did a lot of talking and some stuff that they did not intend to say or didn't think would get printed got printed - the Kiss bit about branding or whatever it was and then the whole Joe Perry thing was kind of awkward. I described the article to a friend as full of bombshells. He made Alex sound like a drug freak desperate for his next joint leaning out the hotel window in New Orleans. I won't comment on Neil. Geddy sounded as if he was mocking fans. His remark about the man in the second row during Xanadu annoyed me. I wasn't there to hear how he said it, so I don't know for sure his intent. I don't know what it's like to be a member of a long-time famous band, but I would think that it would make me happy that my music, after forty years, meant so much to fans that it could still get a reaction like that from someone. They didn't come off badly to me at all and no mockery whatsoever. Methinks you might be a bit sensitive.
  7. I was 29th row on the floor in Tampa and mostly surrounded by diehards. They went nuts for JL. However, to the left of me were 4 guys who looked like they just came from a shift on their A/C truck. They really only got animated for the radio hits at the beginning of set 2. Also, when set 2 began, I couldn't hear any bass until Cygnus. The guitar and drum mix drowned Geddy out. That having been said, the energy as set 2 progressed just built and built. Great stuff. As for the setlist changes wishlist, keep in mind that these songs are positioned where they are to give Geddy's voice a break. You can't just replace instrumentals/easy to sing songs with anything in their catalogue at any spot.
  8. When they do it, you're never there. But if you are, you'll stop and stare.
  9. Middletown Dreams Lock And Key Superconductor Carve Away the Stone
  10. I agree. My buddy and I turned to each other and actually rolled our eyes when it started. For me also, same thing with Dreamline. They played it about 100 tours in a row without a break.
  11. No. However, I've been sick of Red Sector A for awhile. It sucked they brought it back last tour.
  12. I think they will come back next summer and do a similar number of shows. After that, I believe they will still record music and tour but in a traditional sense with an opening act. This is it for "An Evening with Rush".
  13. It is what it is. Their shows are always a combo of the new and the stuff they've recently played (cuts down on rehearsal time).
  14. Rush and Major League Baseball are sponsoring a contest that gets you airfare, accommodations, $ and tickets to a Cubs' game and front row tix to Rush. I just got the email through MLB and entered today. I'm not sure how you'd find it otherwise, but it might be worth seeking out. FYI, Geddy and retired pitcher Randy Johnson had a feature together on MLB Network's "Quick Pitch" last week.
  15. Probably because YYZ is shorter than RB or Camera Eye.
  16. This is horse poop. Tampa and Rush rocked the house.
  17. He probably quit using it because ultimately, it's silly. As a teenager, I watched the whole Xanadu video and he only used the bottom guitar part during the last few seconds of the song.
  18. For the last Tampa show, I pulled into the across-the-street hotel parking lot at 3:15 or so and heard them doing Subdivisions prior to the 7:30 scheduled show.
  19. I can tell you one reason why I prefer outdoor venues...hotel cost. I'm paying 3X for a room within walking distance of the Tampa hockey stadium than I did for the amphitheater.
  20. For Tampa, that was the VIP presale. The VIP sales starts Tuesday. After half an hour of searching, I got a ticket on Alex's side in the first 30 rows at the $120 price. It pays to be patient.
  21. Amazon delivered mine on Monday. I also autoripped the cd to my phone this morning. I am through Body Electric on the Blu Ray and the video is excellent. The sound quality from the cloud download is very good also. I had listened to it a couple of times on Pandora and it sounds better than that by a long shot.
  22. First concert I've been to with beer vendors working the floor. The guys next to me took a break at one point and a vendor set up shop on their seats serving all the people around me. It was distracting and annoying.
  23. I got separated from my friend who sat in a different section. After the show, he said the lead violinist (guy with long hair, not the hot brunette) hung out at the bar across the street and had a few drinks, as did he.
