  2. Maybe, though I'm sure he was too sexy for his own good at times. He still is. He still is.

  4. Thanks! That's awesome! :) I seriously had the biggest braingasm when I saw this last night and noticed that Geddy was sitting in front of his library. Gotta love a well read man. Intelligence is sexy. :) It is, isn't it? I'm glad to see he is an avid reader. Another thing Geddy and I have in common.

  9. Your sleuthing skills are correct! I stumbled across this video yesterday from 2012, the interview is recent but they showed some old pictures, which is where the screencap came from. Geddy's looking darn fine in the interview too, so its definitely worth watching! http://i.imgur.com/cD8ZHgT.jpg

  11. All the fuss over Paul Walker has me wondering. I don't think I've ever cried upon learning of the death of any celebrity. I don't know them, and they don't directly impact my life. I've been momentarily saddened at the loss of life if it's someone young, and shocked, but never hand-wringing distraught or brought to the point of tears. Recently I was sad to learn of the death of author Vince Flynn - loved his books - but I didn't come close to crying. I did cry when watching some of the footage of Princess Diana's funeral, but it wasn't because her death left some huge void in my life. At one point during the procession, the cameras zoomed in on the casket, atop which sat a small bouquet of white flowers. The card accompanying them simply said, "Mummy". Then the camera pulled back and there were William and Harry, heads bowed, walking behind the casket carrying their mother's body. I lost it then, but it wasn't so much specific sadness at the loss of Diana herself. It was the sad realization that two young boys had lost their mother.

  17. I'm just going to put on my jammies, grab a blanket, two cups of tea, and snuggle with Geddy on that chair. I'm pretty sure it will fit both of us.

  18. I get the same feeling watching Geddy sing anymore. It seems that he struggles so much at times it's painful to watch. I'm so glad they're getting out there and busting their behinds touring for us, but I do wish his voice had kept up with their playing, which is absolutely superb. I also hope they have another tour in them for us, and will definitely go see them as many times as I can. Wow, struggle? I don't hear it. He sings differently than he use to, but his tone and pitch are still true. It's just mature Geddy. He's still got it, and can sound stunningly good st times. I'm not trying to argue, I'm just trying to say. Hard to miss all the times his voice breaks or has to slide to pitch. He's obviously straining. I hate to say that but it's been really obvious especially the last two tours. I know we can kind of write off Time Machine a bit due to his cold but even in CA the album you can hear it. Nobody loves Geddy more than me but his voice is really going downhill quickly. Amen. I admire and love the man as much as any musician if have ever heard or known of. I got chills just typing this. I admire the fact that he keeps on keep'in on, but it is "painfully" obvious that it is a struggle. Even the new stuff he has trouble with. As much as I would love to hear an All The World's A Stage set back to front, I am not sure I would even put him through that at this point. Much love Mr. Lee. I would listen if you came out with a walker and an oxygen bottle....

  19. so then i guess it takes one to know one huh "TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE HUHUEHUEHUEHUE" My, what a mature sounding post. Are you even trying or do you want to sound like an 11 year old boy at recess? Your opinion on this matter has been [ ] Validated [X] discarded But no that was bad. Seriously, improve your arguing skills or go back to r/atheism. I know you are but what am I? At least I dont shape my world view on a 2000 year old myth okay maybe you are sounding like a redditor *tips fedora*

  25. I think speaking in generalities, men are the more selfish of the species. I know from experience. I would consider myself reasonably selfish. I have maintained a 34 year marriage and raised 2 children to adulthood however. There is a difference between being, at times selfish and needy, and just being a jerk....... Best wishes Hobo

  33. It wouldn't be as good nowadays....one of the most outstanding features of that pic might not be possible to reproduced. Due to global warming. :) Needed that :LMAO: and a half I dunno, it's still possible to get ice cubes. I hit the "double like and a half" button. It didn't work :)

  34. Where has this picture come from? Using my sleuthing skills, it seems to have been screen-captured from something on VH1... I've seen other photos from this, but not this particular one... is there a video of this? :) That'd be so cool if there was a video of really young Geddy with nail polish! Here are other photos like this... http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g454/GoddessMika/tumblr_lfnyq33e1d1qa4ccvo1_1280_zps3bff4581.jpg http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g454/GoddessMika/Rush/3013_1_large.jpg Hmm, actually, maybe they're not photos from the same gig, but they do look similar! :) Long-haired Geddy... Gawd, such hair and skin on that angel! Forgive me, I just like to look.

  37. I love it because he cares so much. He has always cared this much. This is the same guy who half-killed himself as a young man to make Cygnus Book II work, and his desire has remained that strong and true. This is something he loves and wants to do from the deepest place in his soul. To me, it's beautiful. :rush:

  42. Today my family enjoyed a tremendous German feast care of Greyfriar. We received a hefty package of smoked ham, liverwurst, bockwurst, some booze, crazy good chocolates, soup mix, assortment of candy, awesome mustards, german pickles. But perhaps most special was a picture of his lovely family and personal handwritten letter. Next time you come to the states you b have a place in my home mein friend...we'll give you a great welcome—Appalachian style!!! Thank you River Rhine Burgermeister

  44. Seriously, in my last relationship before my marriage I thought I was crazy. He was ALWAYS putting me down, abusing me, telling me I needed him and couldn't make it without him even though at that time I was living on my own and taking care of myself regardless. He told me I didn't need to go to school, etc... When people tell you that, don't believe them, prove them wrong and stay strong. That's why my husband is so pissy at me right now, I've stopped putting up with his degrading and mean remarks.

  46. A few things... 1) Nevermind is one of the cleanest rock records out there. Compare live versions of Lithium, Come As You Are, etc., to the renditions that were released on that album. Saying CP is "clean" means nothing unless you're about to assert that a band like Nirvana shouldn't be classified as grunge either. 2) If you think that grunge bands stuck to delivering hard, dirty rock songs, you're very much mistaken. That was the same era that gave us All Apologies, Black, No Excuses, and many other such tunes. It wasn't all Them Bones and Man in the Box. 3) Even people in this thread who have called CP and TfE "grungy" have stated that not everything on those records qualifies. Pulling out the odd Everyday Glory or Resist doesn't contradict what people have said. 4) The members of Rush themselves have said they enjoyed grunge bands like Nirvana (whom they even asked to open for them) and did not deny that grunge music influenced their own when participating in interviews during the Counterparts period.

  47. I never said anything similar to that. Tom Sawyer and other hits are played so often I was wondering if they needed to be played when the majority of people at Rush concerts are usually die hard fans. Actually, I'm pretty sure that the majority at Rush concerts is made up of casual Rush fans who have greatest hits compilations, semi-serious Rush fans who have a few of the albums, friends of die-hard Rush fans who have been convinced to come along and give the band a chance, classic rock fans who like to see all the old acts that are still playing, people who enjoy rock shows and are out to have a good time, and other assorted folk who want to hear the songs they know, not deep cuts from albums most people don't even know about. Rush probably does have MORE die-hards in their audience than most bands from their era, and certainly enough of those to support them in continuing a career at some level, but it is definitely the seekers of Tom Sawyer and The Spirit Of Radio who make these big tours and fancy productions financially viable. I, for one, am grateful to them!
