JohnnyBlaze
You might be right goose. But I'd still give it a go without a second thought. However, a deal breaker would be if it smelled bad (establishment and dish)
ILSnwdog
It's practically a crime for me to say this as I'm from New Haven, but I've always preferred thicker crust pizza over thin crust. If I ever go to Chicago, I'm definitely going to try real deep dish pizza. I've only had it from chain restaurants like Uno's, but even that was pretty good. It's the absolute best. Gino's East is my favorite, but you really can't go wrong.I second this. Gino's East is amazing. Lou Malnati's is a close second.
Mara
This seemed pertinent to this thread: http://www.zagat.com...ign=desktopbuzzThe "Avalanche" from Moose Tooth, Anchorage, AK looks awesome!Beau Jo's, from Colorado, makes great pizza!Florida: The Everglades Pie at Evan’s Neighborhood Pizza in Fort MyersA little over a year ago, the owners of Evan’s Neighborhood Pizza had an idea: Why not put python on a pizza? Thus, their Everglades pizza was born. But it’s not just snake on a pie. Owner Evan Daniell adds whole frog legs and alligator sausage for extra flair. He gets the python from Vietnam for roughly $66 per pound. The frog legs come from China, and the gator from the local fish market. Well, alligator is tasty and frog legs can be good too. The chances I've had to try python in Vietnam and other parts, I was outvoted so we all went to another restaurant.I'd try that Florida pizza. I can't imagine it being THAT badGator is tasty. I'm just not sure all these things add up to great pizza. The only gator I've ever had was kind of greasy and full of deadly spiny pointy sharp little bones. I was scared to finish it after about the 4th time I choked.

ReRushed
I've been to Chicago several time, it's a great city. I took my wife to Gino's East and enjoyed what they call deep dish pizza. It's good, very good. But I'm a New Yorker and I'll take a slice over deep dish any day. By the way, if you ever visit New York, do not get a slice anywhere in Midtown. It's not pizza. http://www.comedycen...t-s-split-a-pie
JohnnyBlaze
NY pizza is to Led Zeppelin as Chicago pizza is to The Who. Well, not really but my point is that it's all good!!! It depends on my mood which one I want but I'll never turn down either unless I'm full. Happy Jack Stairway To Heavenly Pizza Pie!!! Seeing as Led ZeNew York City pizza annihilates this glop. Chicago should stick to hot dogs.NY pizza is to Chicago style pizza as Katy Perry is to Rush. Balderdash. Were we talking hockey teams or general cleanliness, Chicago would dominate New York without question. But pizza is NYC's turf. Nope. I know NYC wants to take credit for everything popular, and I realize the first pizzeria in the US was opened in New York, but they didn't invent it. Who do you think invented pizza? Invented in Naples, Italy, with history back even further. As far as I know, the Neapolitans weren't big on drenching their pizza in grease prior to serving. Then it wasn't pizza, was it :) Everyone and their mother claims to have invented pizza. Last I looked into it, the idea we have of a modern pizza was started in the northeast corner of the US by Italian immigrants and popularized throughout Europe by American servicemen who wanted some real damn Italian food, not the shit the Italians were cooking and serving (think of the Sopranos episode when Tony and the gang go to Italy). But if you define pizza broadly enough, I'm pretty sure that the Chinese claim they made it first. There are probably millions of Chinese that believe they invented Italy itself

But, then again, Pizza Hut is part of Yum Brands... the same people who regularly use beans as an adhesive in their gimmick foods under the Taco Bell label. As far as pizza goes.... everyone can knock whatever they want, but I rather enjoy the various styles at different times..... yes to deep dish from time to time... yes to New York style from time to time..... definitely yes to true thin (a staple of my St. Louis roots.... Imo's... thin crust and provel). Pizza is not Italian. It's a damned American Icon.... http://www.superiorpics.com/movie_pictures/mp/2007_Ocean%27s_Thirteen/2007_ocean_thirteen_061.jpg

Who are all these homos talking about pizza? We all know homos don't care about pie! Why are these homos obsessed with the thickness of their pizza? Who cares about the crust, it is obvious these homos only want one ingredient: Sausage. There are more, but I really need to stop here. PS This post is brought to you by 14 year old me.
