Oh yeah, a week after Watkins, I went on a road trip to Nashville to see the eclipse. I forgot to post some of the pics from that.

We ended up camping a few miles from Mammoth Caves in Kentucky
Posted Image
The water was crystal clear. It was a really stunning location. While I already live in a pretty rural area, the stars seemed even brighter here. I had a wonderful time sitting next to the water with a six pack and my setlist of "beach songs" playing.

And the morning of the eclipse, we took a hike in Mammoth Cave.

That's a super cool cave. I've done one cave tour here (Timpanogos) and enjoyed it thoroughly.

After the eclipse we drove over to Nashville to check out the full-scale replica of the Parthenon and find some "authentic BBQ".

Dragged a buddy to a silly little spot in northern Utah--Spiral Jetty, a "sculpture" of rocks an artist created in 1970 on the north side of the Great Salt Lake, in the middle of nowhere.

I've always found giant power grids that cut through rural areas to be strangely beautiful

Did you go on private property in order to get these shots?

I also find it strangely pretty. It's like seeing them cut through an entire landscape like a knife.

I visited a series of trails in the woods near one of the hills. I actually didn't know the grid was on the hill. I stumbled upon it at the end of one of the trails. I had never been on one of these hills so I figured I'd walk up it a little. I may be sterile now but it was worth it for the view.
