Mystic Slipperman
I'm no huge fan of Eric Clapton.....but he does some stellar work on I Wish it Would Rain Down. love that song. Mick Aside from his stuff before 1971, I've believed that Clapton plays better on other peoples' projects, and this is Exhibit A.

LOVED him in Cream but solo he's been massively overrated, IMO. But man does he play well with others. Mick

Lorraine
Maybe I will start a thread Why does everyone love Phil Collins so much? tomorrow and see how well it goes.
toymaker
Collins is a huge talent. Regardless of whatever media image he may have, to me he is just an enormously talented drummer, a passionate singer, and a jokey and charismatic front man. He seems at home writing complex music or catchy-as-hell hit singles. I don't like every song he's ever written - there are a lot I don't like at all - but the great stuff is truly great.

Dweezil
(MOD EDIT: YouTube video removed While any clip from "American Psycho" is awesome, and while Bateman's Phil Collins analysis is fitting for this thread, the rest of the scene with the two girls getting undressed and the other sexual references make that clip inappropriate for this forum... ...which of course you f**king KNOW, Mr. Not. How many years have you been here? Please stop posting content that you know doesn't belong here just to see if you can get away with it.) :P I just find the tone of this funny. That is all. RUSHHEAD666
It seems that out of all the 70s musicians that changed their sound in the 80s, Phil always got the most shit from critics and fans alike? Why is that? I don't think his music is THAT bad. I wasn't going to bite on this topic because hypocritically I can't stand all of his love pop songs. That being said, I think Phil is a wonderful and and an easy TOP TEN DRUMMER OF ALL TIME!!! Are you kidding me?The early Genesis is absolutely off the charts. And for you Phil Collins rookies have you ever heard of a band called BRAND X? Amazing stuff. Just listen to the track "Nuclear Burn" and you will realize how amazing his chops really are. Even outside of Genesis. Personally I enjoy the first three solo albums by Phill Also one of my best friends is really good friends with him. I've heard a ton of stories guys. Phil is an amazing human being. The word "hate" associated with Phil Collins is absolutely ignorant and beyond f***ing stupid. Great man.Great drummer.Great vocalist. Haters hate. Lovers love.If you hate Phil Collins then simply FUCKK OFF!!! Signed, "NO JACK OFF REQUIRED"
