I absolutely adore The Fountain Of Lamneth. Musicall it's one of the bands most thrillingly creative moments. And the atmosphere is just off the charts!

I have said many a time though that I would take Caress Of Steel over any seventies album in a heartbeat. Even I doubt A Farewell To Kings could survive a battle...I really love Caress Of Steel.

Something about those epics just get to me.

Maybe I should finally vote in this thread and pick Lamneth.

I agree with you, the entire second half of the album is dripping with atmosphere, I love it, so calming at points.

Last summer when I first discovered TFOL I loved it so much that I would fall asleep to it almost every night. The guitar work in No One at the Bridge transports me to a different place. The rest of the song is great too.

Are you a Steve Hackett fan? Alex has explicitly stated -- and it's obvious -- that he modeled the solo after him.

Bit of an over the top poll, but I'm curious how everyone feels here.

First, which of Rush's multi-part epics is your favorite? You all have one, I know it. Second, which individual part from each is your favorite? (Xanadu not included because it isn't split into different parts).

I'm interested to see how you all respond, feel free to discuss as well :)

You forgot Jacob´s Ladder and Red Barchetta

Agreed. They may be shorter but they pack more in their running time than most entire albums.

I had to go with Lamneth as well. All of the epics are wonderful. My top ten favorite Rush songs are the ten listed in the poll. Can't go wrong with any of the choices. It's like picking your favorite child.

I did have to vote for Return Of The Prince for favorite 'portion' of an epic. Such wonderful fretwork. Surprised I was the only one who voted for that. But once again, there was so many good choices to vote for.

Since others are putting polls back in this section, no reason why I can't too.

Do it, we'll be rebels together.

Like, screw the system, maaaan.

I like that: "We'll be rebels together." Maybe we can pen lyrics for a song starting with that line.

We'll be rebels together...

How about this: "Rebel years...it's the season of the itch...rebel years...with every 'screw you I'm doing what I want' it reappears..."
