I'm not even sure what a hipster is actually but I dare say someone on here does and may even be one.

A hipster is obviously someone who has had a hip replacement

I'm not a hipster. My original hips are still in working order

Me too!

I was gonna say- they ask for their beers in code- PBR and IPA . . . .

They wear plaid sport shirts a lot . . . . The one in the red shirt could be a farm worker or construction worker in PA but the rest look like my hipster nephews (who constantly deny they are not . . . .)

The only hipsters by sight there would be the guys on the ends. I think it'd depend on what the two guys in the middle said to qualify them as hipsters. Need to brush up on my Hipster Identification skills. ;)

So a hipster doesn't exist, it's merely an insult for certain people?

I think it's a look and an attitude that was not frowned upon at one time, but quickly became seen as sort of fake and transparent- flaky, if that makes sense to you. (I'm not sure if Brits use that term- but I think of a flake as someone who is not really genuinely concerned about...well, anything).

I think hipsters (or young persons that think independently, are not overly worried about conforming to certain social expectations and tend to use mass transit and live on lower budgets, I dunno) still exist, but as soon as it was jumped on as a marketing/fashion concept (and it was, big time; there are still a lot of hipster ads around) nobody wanted to be "those people" , the trendy fakes in the ads :)

So you have to be a certain age then?

Same as any other label. Do nerds exist? When does a person become one?

What about life, does life exist? When do we come...ALIVE???

It may be possible for hippies to age gracefully. But not hipsters.
