I wonder that a lot with DT. Ha. But thats not to say I dont find it. I often do. Its often there. DTs music is not about the hook. They do tend to meander with their structures which makes the melody a bit difficult to place. The first 4 or so albums have a ton of melody all the way up to Metropolis and since then they do tend to be more explorative. yea the wanking kinda took off at six Degrees. Replaying Octavarium was wonderful. No complaints. But in this case, Xanadu is just a far more iconic, and beautiful, work of art.
