If anyone doubts Frank was a musical genius and think he just puts whatever shit he writes; refer to the fact that this masterpiece was released within a half-of-a-year span of another masterpiece of his, Joe's Garage.

I still find it insane that he was able to make 3 albums a year, and tour. And his albums are masterpieces

I know some people saw him live on here, was he a good live performer? or only good in studio?

I love his live albums, but was he good to see in concert

I saw him at a Festival in Germany back in the 80`s.

He wasn`t in the best of moods but it was still a great concert.

Steve Vai was part of a fantastic band.

Great totally bitchen setlist from an amazing tour. Aparently He was having a ton of problems on that tour. Riots, tear gassing, people constantly throwing things on stage, erc. At the end of rhe tour he was saying he would never come back to Europe. He had stopped several gigs because he was sick of people throwing shit at him on stage. Too sad man.

Thankfully he did go bAck there but the next time he stayed away from the festival circuit for the most part.

I'm being listening to Zappa today. and it's hard to chose but i think fave run of albums is Overnite Sensation-You Are What you Is.

Now yheir are some ibn that run that make it less them perfect

Studio Tan/Sleep Dirt.......released without his permission anyway.

Orchestral Favorites.

and i have to be in the mood for the guitar triple album

but on the whole that's the run for me.

Add in like

Them and Us and The Man from Utopia.

wow we are so good.

Over two years ago, I listened to this track and it got me interested in Frank. I started out with just Hot Rats and Apostrophe, but then last summer I delved into a lot of his discography, and continued to be impressed.

Peaches En Regalia though -- it instantly clicked with me, and expanded my mind. Right when I think that I've heard just about everything that there is to hear, a genius like Frank surprises me. There's plenty of great music left to be made, and even though this track is decades old, it still is proof of that. All it takes is talent and dedication.

Surely you are aware of how these albums came to be. An interesting story...

I dispute the fact that

a) he was weird

b) his lyrics were vulgar Neither of these are true In the slightest.

I don't agree with your second point at all, here. I am a Zappa fan. I used to listen to my brother's copy of Hot Rats before I could afford to buy albums of my own, and I've bought about 15 of his albums in the last 35 years or so.

His lyrics were undoubtedly deliberately vulgar, and while I'm not sure I'd say that Frank was weird, his music certainly was. He liked it that way. He saw it as an alternative, a sort of antidote even, to the prevailing popular music of the time. That's not really why I liked his stuff, though. He was just so utterly inventive, original and clever.

Anyway - here's a short piece of music that is studiously weird, with wilfully vulgar lyrics.
