I know how you feel. I, too, feel disappointed whenever anyone says anything disparaging about one of my favorite albums/songs.

The debut is great, full of energy and youthful enthusiasm; but it's easily the worst Rush album for me.

I can understand not liking Vapor Trails, but I don't understand it being considered inferior to Test For Echo or Roll the Bones or Presto. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Test for Echo is the weakest Rush release.

 

I'm with you. TFE is my least favorite and the other three you mentioned are next in line.

Production wise, I'd go with Vapor Trails with Roll The Bones + Presto close second. Presto ranks much higher though song wise.
