I'm watching True Lies right now for the 100andumphteenth time and it's just as good every time I watch it. That's how I feel about all of the ones I've seen. It doesn't matter how many times I watch - they are just as good each time. Of the 9 listed, I have not seen Piranha 2, Ghosts of the Abyss, or Aliens of the Deep.

Cameron is just the greatest action movie director/producer/writer of our age.

As far as choosing a favorite... man it was tough. But I narrowed it down to 2: True Lies and Aliens. Ultimately, I chose Aliens. It's probably my favorite action/sci fi movie of all time. Man, after first time I watched that movie my stomach hurt from being clenched for 2 straight hours.

So.... What's yours?

Of the ones I've seen:

The Terminator - Great sci-fi movie

Aliens - Also a Great sci-fi movie, up there with the first Alien

The Abyss - Yet Another Great One

Terminator 2: Judgement Day - One of the best sci-fi movies of all time

True Lies - Hated it - way too violent and senseless for me

Titanic - Loved it

Terminator 2 wins for me easily...

Did you think "True Lies" was more violent than "T2?"

Good question. Very different kinds of violence. I thought the violence in T2 was very well done and fit in with a brilliant fantasy (sci-fi) story. With True Lies, it just seemed gratutious and harsh in a pointless glorification of violence. Outside of that, I just thought it was pretty stupid. Just my take...

This was a tough one for me. It was hard to decide between Terminator, Terminator 2 and Aliens. I chose Aliens, but it could have easily been one of the other two choices.

All of the rest are far behind those.

Another vote for Aliens here (strange, I was watching it last night - prompted by watching AvP earlier).

I remember going to see it at the cinema and being totally blown away. A great mix of action and spectacle where, for once, the SFX carried the story instead of the story being something to hang the SFX on (*cough ID4 cough*).

However, I must confess that my mouse lingered over The Terminator for a while as that is a great SF/suspence film.

I love 'The Abyss'!

Certainly a classic.

In fact, the only JT film I've not really been interested in was Titanic and that's because I know how it ends.

*MAJOR SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEEN IT BELOW*

I'm very happy to see The Abyss get a vote. I absolutely love this movie, and have watched it countless times.

It was a toss-up between The Abyss and the Terminator....I love T2 but the first one really introduces the story well and T2 was just an excellent "beefed up" working of it....I decided to finally vote Terminator...Aliens rocks as well but like T2 to Terminator, it's just a beefed up version of the original movie (mind you an awesome job!)..... I don't know how the hell it got so much praise and won so many awards.

Did you even pay attention to the details of the sets? The sinking of the ship? The costumes?

The actual sinking of the ship was very well done IMO....

The entire last half of the movie (from the iceberg on) was extremely well done. And one part early in the movie set it all up: When Bill Paxton's character showed the old woman the computer simulation of how and why the boat sank. So when you see the boat sinking later on, you understand exactly what's happening. You can skip everything in between, though. tongue.gif
