RUSHHEAD666
You have to separate the people from the music/movie/sport. Everyone has their unsavory moments; Ted Nugent's right wing ramblings don't impact my enjoyment of Double Live gonzo. Michael Jordan's adulterousness doesn't detract form his feats on the court, etc. I dont know. I've spent a portion of my life collecting and absorbing thw works of Bill Coaby only to discover that hes a detestable peice of shit serial rapist. I still enjoy VH Albums but Ed is a complete asshole. At leat its just his revisionism thats at play here. That's really funny buddy that you mentioned Bill Cosby. Last night David Lee Roth slammed Cosby! It was fuckking hilarious. After reading through this thread I totally get everyone's take. My thread title was not to suggest that there were haters for Eddie. It was only directed to David. Who I personally still adore and love. Unconditional love for the greatest American Rock Band of ALL TIME. f**k PERSONAS! f**k EGOS! VAN HALEN PUT OUT SIX EPIC MASTERPIECES! ALL IN A ROW!!!!!!!!!! They opened with "Light Up The Sky!" Are you fuckking kidding me? EPIC! I know Wolfgang has his mother's weight issues but the dude can play the fukking bass. I love him too, but remember I'm not that stupid. Michael Anthony FUKKING RULES!
RUSHHEAD666
I'd love to see a dvd and judge for myself. Glad to hear though, Earl, your review of the concert. Thanks Lorraine! I can't get enough of this band. Listened to old Van Halen all day. Never gets old!!!
The K Man
Are there really people hating on Eddie as a guitar player? You'd be surprised, but yes. Eddie is overrated and a big jerk. He didn't change the course of rock guitar playing in the least. You can find guys on YouTube playing eruption. Eddies a clown.I think I detect sarcasm but not sure. If not, that is one of the worst posts ever. Saying EVH didn't change the course of rock guitar playing would be pure ignorance. He's a dick of the highest order, but he and Hendrix are 1a and 1b as far as most influential rock guitarists. Oh, and Roth sucks swamp water now. His voice is trash, and his on-stage behavior is now embarrassing to the point where he should be pitied.
Xanadoood
I put Van Halen in with the technical wizards/sound effects crowd. I've never heard him play anything that really struck me emotionally. All that dive-bomby / pinch harmonic crap gets boring after a while. Sorry, don't mean to sound like a "hater" - I have the five VH albums that matter and enjoy them. Yeah, all that dive-bomby, pinch harmonic crap. And two handed tapping. Don't forget the tapping! Kinda like drummers who just roll down the toms. Like that Neil peart. Every song. Tom roll! Tom roll! Gets old fast! You think he'd do something else! fraroc
I absolutley f***ing abhor and completley despise ungrateful Van Halen fans. There are tons and tons of kids and teenagers out there who love Van Halen's music, EVH as a guitarist, and the 1978-1984 CVH period and right now, this current lineup with Eddie, Alex, Wolfie, and Dave is the only way that these kids can experience the mighty Van Halen in this day and age. And to think that these people, these ungrateful people, would go up to these kids, usually on the internet and say "YEAH WELL, I SAW THE REAL VAN HALEN IN 1981 ON THE FAIR WARNING TOUR, SO YOU AIN'T GOT SHIT ON ME!" These people don't understand, Van Halen with Wolfie is the absolute CLOSEST thing that young VH fans will get to seeing the 1978-1984 lineup live. Shame on every VH fan that would do something as low as to try and make a young VH fan feel bad for basically not even being born to see the original lineup of Van Halen. Rock n' Roll has always been a young man's game, the youth of America who still like classic rock deserve their chance to see their favorite bands, which is why I have nothing but the utmost contempt for fans who shit on DLR's voice (in which he was NEVER a good singer to begin with and it doesn't matter either.), and shit on Wolfie for being in the band instead of Michael Anthony. Tombstone Mountain
His Nazi-like attempt to erase Michael Anthony from VH history just proves what a wanker he really is. Here's a song devoted to that idea
Union 5-3992
Too bad Eddie has to be a c*** and prevent a real lineup. It's the same petty bullshit that makes me never want to see Yes.

Lorraine
I was just doing some checking on used Diver Down cds and came across the comment Eddie made that it is his "least favorite album." I don't know what would make him say that, but I'm not him. I did like this little comment he made about doing songs made famous by other bands, and couldn't help but think of Feedback: "I'd rather bomb with my own stuff than score with somebody else's." Right on, Eddie!! Edited July 11, 2015 by Lorraine

I think he disliked DD because Roth pushed for the inclusion of covers & used some of Eddie's original music/riffs & incorporated them therein. Dancing In The Streets is an example. That intro moog riff was Eddie's but Roth stole it & tacked it on to a Motown hit. Ed felt ripped off. But DD has 5 covers on it, some of which have Ed's music in them. No wonder he was annoyed. Especially when you consider the quality of the VH originals that made the cut. Lorraine
Here's another question. I know I had the album 1984, but the cd cover for the album isn't the one I remember for the vinyl back then. Did they change it? And where do they get off charging $17.96 for a brand new CD?
Lorraine
I just listened to snippets from each song off 1984. I had forgotten what any one of them sounded like. It wasn't a good year for me. I'd take Geddy's voice over DLR's any day.
