JohnRogers
All right so Geddy probably had Neil wear that Expos ball cap. WTF was Neil wearing taped to his chest, a mic?
Snaked
"During these sessions we were experimenting with an unusual type of microphone called a "PZM," or Pressure Zone Microphone. It only picks up direct sound--no reverberated signals. On this track and on "Vital Signs," we used it taped onto my chest! It re-created that special "drummer's perspective"; the balance and dynamics that you hear when you play. In the overall mix it's used as an overhead or ambience mic' to enhance and naturalize the complete drum mix. If any of you happened to see the video that we made for "Vital Signs," you may have noticed the great lump of metal that was growing out of my chest. That was the PZM." http://www.2112.net/powerwindows/transcripts/19821200moderndrummer.htm

Supersyl
All right so Geddy probably had Neil wear that Expos ball cap. WTF was Neil wearing taped to his chest, a mic? He was wearing the Expos cap because they were friends with Warren Cromartie and other Expos players from the great late '70's early '80's teams. They were also friends with several Montreal Canadiens from the '70's Dynasty... Steve Shutt (Who introduced Geddy and Alex in school!!), Larry Robinson, etc..... I always say the biggest goal Steve Shutt ever scored was basically "scoring" Rush into existence! :) Edited April 4, 2015 by Supersyl

And wasn't I lucky to find that vid of Gene Krupa playing? It synced to the drum fill very well.
