Narps
Sadly, I wouldn't say you are in the minority..... :sigh: :|
Segue Myles
Rush is growing on me with every play. Fly By Night is absolutely nothing to write home about. Caress Of Steel is the bands first masterpiece.
geezer
I like both "Fly By Night" and "Caress Of Steel", but I have always found that Rush is not Rush yet on "Rush"

But what Narps said, a lot of people unfortunately a lot of people dont like Fly by night Or Caress of Steel (Even Rush doesnt like it)
bluefox4000
I dislike the debut and FBN. LOVE COS dearly. Mick
Narps
If the debut is supposedly just "bad Zeppelin" I just don't get it. Here Again, Working Man, Finding My Way, Before And After and What You're Doing are songs Zep wish they would have done. Kick @ss and awesome every one especially given the times and youth of the band. Just my humble opinion.... :codger:
laughedatbytime
FBN (and the debut) are great. So are Bastille Day, Lakeside Park, and parts of the Necromancer. Much better than Presto or S&A.

Why is Presto being raked across the coals again? This thread is about the first three albums! Presto is a different era, and arguably genre, to these three! Disk98
Rush is hit or miss, Fly By Night is generally good, and I thought CoS was supposed to stand for "Clump of S***."
Digital Dad
FBN is the good one of the bunch CoS is overblown. Rush is really a covers album. It's a digest of the Rutsey years.

toymaker
Love all three. In spite of what I was writing about the Fountain of Lamneth the other day, I still love it. A fantastic trio of original music and stellar playing.
gudbuytjane
Fly By Night has grown on me so much over the years it's among my top five for sure. I usually skip "Rivendell," but the rest of the album has nearly endless replayability for me. I'm pretty bland about the first album, and while I'm generally not a fan CoS I've been warming up to it after giving it re-listens while thinking about threads here. "Bastille Day" is among my favourite songs by the band, ever, but the rest is varying degrees of snore to not-hate.

Rush is a covers album? What?? Haha. Yep. The real Rush for me starts with FBN. From fhis I shall not waver. Its a completely different band. Even the song Best I Can. Obviously its not a covers album. What u think I meant?

I like the debut a lot, but it wasn't exactly groundbreaking for 1974
